QR - brief summary
hi folks!
just to play safe, a short summary for QR new joiners!
i read all of your posts carefully and i have gotten the following view about QR in my mind!
flying time: about 90 hours/month (mostly during night time)
upgrade: about 6-8 years if you join now
sallary: with 75 hours about 9500 usd tax free
education allowance: QR 50.000 => (this amount is well enough for one child)
housing: for an adequate (family-) flat to rent (3 bedroom) QR 13.000 yearly increase by 10% 2008: 14.300 2009: 15.730 ...
sometimes you have to search about 9 month to be successful
rostering (wide body only): minimum rest, mostly during night time, about 8-10 days/month off in doha, 3 days off/month you may request but sometimes you will not get them, rostering changes up to 4 times a month.
traffic situation: all hell has broken loose, to buy and maintain a car is cheep
what do you think about my brief is it fact or just a day-dream

Sounds a correct view for the long haul (330)...
-Donīt forget sometime your days off are allocated on layover(outside doha) for legality..
..so you end up with 7 or 8 days off in doha/month...
-You can request for 4 days off in a raw/month..
-Salary: to be considered carefully expecially vs others currencies , like euro,pounds.....(only vs U$ as itīs a fix rate you donīt loose money!!

-Traffic:Still a lot of Idiot,criminal driver,for whoīs a camel would be much more appropriate than a powerfull car!!!

Take home pay!
Thank you guys for the info, I have just a few quick questions.
I was just wondering how much can a Captain/FO actually take home monthly?
(actual pay not the total package) on a 70-80 hr month at QR?
How long are the layovers on the 330 fleet? 24 hrs 36 hrs?
Destinations on the 330?
Distance wise from the Airport and Shops etc where would be a good area to the search for flats? I heard that a new compound is being completed this month, what are most of the new hires doing? company provided housing or rentals?
How long is ground training? if coming off the A320 to the A330 before actually seeing the line?
How difficult is it to convert drivers license, and buy a car there?
Would love to get some answers, before surfing the sand.
