Chinese Food anyone?
Tried to cut and paste, but no luck I am afraid. Air China are now advertising for Sydney and Melbourne based A330 DECs at $US14000 + overtime, and PEK based guys, with firm 1st and business seats for commuting at $15000 + overtime.
That would buy quite a few DVDs I would imagine.
Times they are achangin.

Same old story...they bitch and moan about how much they hate Dubai and EK, can't wait to get back home, yet when an opportunity is presented, you get the usual response..."well, it's not enough $$$" etc etc etc.

Sorry guys,
I hate to introduce facts into what is an otherwise standard pilot v pilot whinge on pprune, but...............
The tax office will only take one third of the 14k per month. A lot of money to be sure, but substantially less than half. In fact at 14k per month which is equal to 168k per year, you will pay (worst case) $55,950, according to the ATO tax calculator. If you have deductions, which anyone earning that salary should have, it will be somewhat less.
These are the facts. Use them as you wish.
Cheers

I am surprised that this thread isn't sitting at the top of the list. So many of you talk so much about 'outbases' or 'commuting' that when a job comes along that pays roughly the same as you earn here, that it isn't getting more attention.
Yes, after tax you will have less money in your pocket BUT don't forget the value of being a resident in your great country. To me it looks like a great opportinity for those of you from down under, what am I missing?

Excuse me for asking the OBVIOUS, but why the FU.CK should anyone leave where they presently are, for something that pays NO more?
Am I missing something, or are you just another SH#T Stirrer?
Because "GOD" knows there are not enough here already.
