Emirates apartment with pets

Are there a lot of Emirates apartment that accepts pets? How does it differ from those apartment that doesn't allow pets? Eg. Older apartment? Not in a nice area? etc. Would appreciate all the info given. Thankssss

It depends on the pet. I think you can keep pets in all of the Emirates Apartments as long as it is nothing more exotic than a cat or dog. Killer spiders and snakes probably wouldn't go down so well. It is a good idea to drop the accommodation department an e-mail to let them know what you plan once you have signed the contract so they can make arrangements for the furry ones. Good luck with the move- I know of lots of people who have brought pets with them to Dubai and it is fairly straightforward if not fairly cheap.

EK does not encourage the keeping of pets.

Many of the housing units have landlords that do not want pets in their units.

DSO should not be a problem for dogs since all units have a garden area.

Units in Satwa may not have ANY garden area, so pets wil be a problem from a practical point of view.

Also think about who will look after the pet(s) when you're not there.

Just have a small dog, a ****zu actually. Looking to move in Jan. So a bit worried bout the quality of the apartment because if it is not as good as the ones that doesnt have pets then I might consider not bringing my dog. Any comments?

TBAY _ i don't understand why they would have a problem with a dog. After all, he'd keep the place cleaner than you would

Had this problem myself a few years back. Most appartments will not allow dogs in them. cat are generally OK though. If you end up in a villa 90% of them are suuitable for a dog.

Tell them a ****zu is a type of cat.
They won't know any better and you'll be approved.

Guess I shouldn't laugh!!!!!

Anyone know the rules at EK about bringing pets on board (ad customs). My 4 year old has a hamster who MUST come to Dubai

The alternative is to hopefully buy the identicle white hamster in Dubai - and of course my guess is pure white ones are rare!!

Import of dogs and cats air by manifested cargo only and travel in the belly, think it would be the same for other furry live animals.

Know about dogs and cats also need a import permit.
----

About apartments on the economy (not EK), many say no pets to start with but will allow cats without issue, just note it on the contract.

The company we rent from has no pets in the standard contract but allows cats only in our building and in the next building over small dogs and cats are allowed.

My place came with lots of pets supplied at no extra cost. I've had a scorpion, slow worm (looked like an adder), lizards and some large interesting spiders join me over the past months.

Then there's also the wife with a big sting, a nasty bite and a rattling tail!! ....but she's alright most of the time

Lets not forget Cockroaches come as standard, persistent little bastards.

I see this thread is quite old, my Emirates employment would be conditional on bringing my 2 year old child and our 2 medium sized dogs. How would all this go over in Dubai?

This might help

DKC ~ Dubai Pets, Dubai Dogs Cats Animals, Kennels Cattery Relocation

They might be of assistance. This is not a charity org; the cost of transport, quarantine perhaps, import docs and what have you.

We also have two pets that would come with us to DXB, if I start, so I understand your concern.
