Rumours about pilot selection program
Any news on this area?
I heard that the pilot selection manager CAPT AH**D S*L**MI was directly involved... giving away answers to the questions.

Saleemi is out and it is confirmed
Capt Saleemi has been fired by the board for being responsible for leaking the cadet selection exam questions to one female candidate. The female candidate was Hisham abualfateh sister (GF spokesman). Apparently, he was trading promotion with succession the sister through. From what I heard is that Saleemi was hoping with the new Bahraini chief arriving, hisham would influence the new chap to kick Chris (VPT) out and replace him with a "national" that is Saleemi.
Capt. Saleemi ends his 30 years of service with a (termination letter) from the board for being dishonest in his job. Yes I also heard that he was retiring at the end of the year, but the board made a fast track to his departure from the company. I also heard he was not allowed to benefit from the package offered.
If this company wants to step ahead and succeed, dishonest people should be fired immediately, even if they are nationals.

Cadet pilots 2006
Why is it that this has affected our group that went thru the process fairly and normally as the years before did??? Its B U L L S H I T that u keep someone waiting for 12 months and tell them sorry everything is void, and canceled ...Have a good life? Thanks for wasting my time u b u l l s h i t company
First it went from a full scholarship, to a personal loan to NOTHING?.. I'll be paying for training??? this isn't costing GF anything!
Should've gone done my master's degree that I declined and been an asset for a company that appreciates instead of believing their BS.
And 12 months later.. no one has an answer...
Is this fair? Ethical?

A word of trust
12 months of waiting and delaying the course from while to while.. a full sponsored program turned into a personal loan with Gulf Air's recommendation and job guaranty was still ok with the selected cadets of 2006's batch. Latest information said that the course is set to start on October 22nd ( HR said so) and now VPT says everythin is VOID!!! What does it have to do with our batch!! Why was it delayed for this long and now everything is messed up ? We were adviced to apply for the new loan and assesment provided by Bahrain Developement Bank.. Is it fair to make us go through the whole assessment process again? You never know how long we have been under stress waiting for our results and wrtiting tests and being interviewd.. They simply want us to be assessed again with BDB and either get selected or not!!!
Whoever reads this do u think its fair? They simply avoided our acceptance and kicked us off!!!! Way to go our national carier

you are right, it is unfair to ask the last year candidates who made it through to start from zero and go through the selection again.
The decision which was made to empower BDB to take care of the selection is simply becuase the program is no longer Gulf Air's, BDB is paying for the training of the candidates and the selection process should be entirly theirs. GF offered to facilitate the selection and the placement on the course etc, but with the recent misconduct the decision was made to remove the "control" from GF.
I heard that the candidates who'll complete the training might also be employed with national airlines other than GF, such as Ajwaa, royal airline etc.

Well if the people who pay for the training get to do the selection lets just ask the passengers to do all the assessments. That should get a really good bunch of new pilots and probably better than the bunch of moaners on here.

I agree that GF isn't handling the assessments anymore. What about the 3 or so batches that were sent to Doha? And the batch of 9 Omanis and 1 Bahraini that were sent a month before our acceptance?
Che Guevara, you are right, I spoke to a few reps from BDB and they believe that these students can start re-paying the loans in 1 year... ummm isnt the course 1 year long??? yes
Btw BDB wasn't doing the assessments, its Clark Aviation that came all the way from the Philippines to test the interested candidates after paying a fee of $300
riffbiff, you mentioned "The decision which was made to empower BDB to take care of the selection is simply becuase the program is no longer Gulf Air's"
Yes you are right, but again this all has to do with the mess that happened in 2007, not 2006!

One would have thought if they were going to use a flying school to do the assessments, then might as well use the school in Jodan that the successful candidates will go to, or does that make too much sense...
To be honest I find it absolutely ludicrous that a national airline can't do their own honest and fair cadet asessments, but there you go.

What are you people talking about!!! First, yes Gulf Air doesnt have anything to do with Clark Aviation assessment.. Here is the thing, BDB decided to make the aviation loans open to anyone who has acceptance in any flight school... and as a first step to apply their project, Clark Aviation came to test anyone interested, the guys who pass the assessment will be directed and recommended to BDB to recieve their loans, they will only cover the school fees as long as it doesnt exceed BD30,000 no pocket money no job guarantee... MEANWHILE Gulf Air didnt move on with their contract with BDB as they mentioned a couple of months ago that they wanna train 40 pilots.. they were supposed to give us a letter to proceed to BDB and get our loans!!! this never happened..
In summery, Clark Aviation assessment is totally different and doesnt have anythin to do with Gulf Air... in both cases our group has been avoided

Che G. you are right.. but the school in Jordan cannot make the tests or would not be recommended to do the tests, because simply they might take on board all the applicants (even those who are not "that qualified' after all, they will take as many students as they can)
it looks like the whole thing turned into a bank giving loans to people interested in flying.. which any other personal loan will do, i thought there was some sort of committment from GF to offer jobs for the successful pilots, but everything seems to be in a total mess.

i reckon the school in cuba once you graduate from there you will be the best pilot by smuggling drugs lol. they will give you good training specially low flying with no transponder, and after that you can pay off your loan in 1 flight so i think cuba is the best place to train.

There is a contract between GF and BDB which was signed a while ago.. GF must recommend some cadets to BDB so they get their loan.. it seems GF ignored the whole issue and the contract became some meanless words in a paper since BDB didnt recieve any names fom GF... what a mess
