Snag-hit flight lands near Doha

MANAMA
A GULF Air plane was forced to make an emergency landing at an airfield in Qatar, en route from Dubai to Bahrain, it emerged yesterday.
The Saturday evening GF 567 flight was forced to make an emergency landing at an airstrip near Doha and not at Doha International Airport, a passenger told the GDN.
The passenger, who asked not to be named, said the captain announced that he would have to make the unscheduled landing due to engine trouble.
"The flight left Dubai at 6.30 in the evening, and then we had to make an emergency landing in Qatar," said the passenger.
"The pilot said he did not want to take any chances. Everybody was frightened.
"There were no Gulf Air staff at the airfield and we had to wait there for hours before they got us back to Bahrain. By the time I left the airport it was 2am."
A Gulf Air spokesman said he was aware of a technical fault on the flight, but had no further comment to make.

Could it be Al-Sayliah Air Base? Or Al-Khor Airstrip, although its runway is extremely short!

Hmmmm,, landing was at at DOHA internatinal airport. lost of main FUEL pump (320 no stby pumps). Flt ferried back after 3hrs & pumps ops normal todate. all 134 pax plus others left doha on a GF B767 schedual flt after an hr. GDN is wrong this time mate & the pax was on somthing as he mistaked the remote stands for an airbase..
