I was wondering if the new hires (FO) that are in the talent pool, have to take this (PAT) test. Could please someone clarify this. I have heard about internal upgrades and new applicants, but nothing has been mentioned about talent pool people.

90 Second Officers are in training in the 320/330 most of them have not finished or close to , it tooks around a year to do so . Many experienced FO waiting even type rated on the 320 , until they are cleared as FO would not be any movement no the pool !!!

I see Qatar is hiring for first officers again. Does anyone on the inside know if they will consider you if you are typed and current on 73NG?

To apply for this opportunity in our Flight Deck team you must meet the following minimum requirements:
1-Type-rated and current on the A320, A330/A340 or B777
i´m not sure if with the B73NG you will be consider, but if you don´t try you will never be... so try....

I was Rollingtk the online application, I'm type rated and current. But there is a question in which they ask if you also have 500 hrs on type. However in the requirements of the from page do not mention about this requirement.
Don't understand and don't know why they do that...

PAT TEST
I passed interview last may 2012, I'm in talent pool TR 320 and yesterday I received An email to join Doha for PAT test. I'm current on A320 but I don't fly since october 2011 and when I passed my interview I decline any opportunity around the world because I should to join QR and now QR would pilots this recency on A320 as well. Is it correct?

Learn more about Qatar Airways and then take your first step to becoming a Qatar Airways pilot.
Qatar Airways Pilot Training - Cadet Programme | CTC Wings
£95 000 to £100 000. I don't think NTSO's will be needed if this kicks off. May be not even non rated FTSO's

It is all nice that they are expanding and i hope that the swimmers get a job soon. But there is 1 thing i do not understand: is there really a need of the customers from worldwide to fly to qatar? I mean, is there really a marketing investigation done to see if there was really a demand? I have the impression that the goal,of emirates and qatar is just to be the biggest and profitnumbers are not an issue.

iQatar
even if this starts today by the time first batch is ready it will be at least 12 or 18 months the fastes... so that´s not an issue for the swimmers and when i did my interview i was told that around 500-600 pilots a year will be needed, so i think they will have to continue with the hiring.
Stick35
From Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi within less than 7-8 flight time you can reach 2-3 of the worlds population, fast growing economies and global cargo markets, so I think they are really in a good position to make profit.
I always see and listen people talking about Qatar, Emirates.... but I think Turkish has a very very agressive strategy as well, and a huge progress in the last years and they expansion plans are even bigger than EK, have a look at the last years and you will see, the only problem they have is Ataturk but they are soliciting for a huge new airport, and Turkish has a big home population plus big touristic potential as well..
