To be honest, there is NO need for SO's (FT/NT) in the next financial year
Just another bunch of conflicting info. Some people in the recruitment department says yes, and some of them says no. I think it all depends to who you speak to on the day. I don't know who and what to believe anymore. The only thing that I do know is that I am not sitting and waiting for QR anymore.

NTSO / FTSO

Hello guys,

I too have heard from someone in recruitement:
'no Normal SO's anymore in 2013, and a very small number of some FTSO's might be needed --> second half 2013'.

The truth? I still don't know.

What I do know is that a friend of mine (FTSO), has been in and especially OUT of the country of QR since march 2012. Even as of today he still is in his home country on paid leave waiting to start his line training. Matching rumours with these facts, I guess we are in for a bad 2013...

If its ID90 or ID50 it is not free, is it?

Common sense... ME seems to have a lack of it.

(Family members can travel ID90 Economy though)

Does anyone know what this means?

I was interviewed for F/O position B777 in May 2012 (type rated with 4000hrs on type). Was accepted and put in the pool with an expected update at end of November. Since I received no update by mid January I emailed them. They replied saying that I: 'didn't receive an update as I am no longer in their talent pool. You will receive an update in a few weeks from us.'
Does this mean that I am about to get a contract sent to me? Does it mean that I have been dumped from the system? Anyone know how I should read this????

This would be very ridicolous if they really didnt take those people. There are Tunesians flying for Qatar Airways now.

Also the country/state of Qatar is believed to support the islamistic "terrorists" which now are in northern Mali with weapons and communication technologies.

During the Lybian crisis they financed the rebels and played along with NATO on the other side.
But some of those rebels turned out to be quite radical and are now among the riots in Mali.

If you take Syria for example its the same thing. Financing rebel groups with weapons on the one side and granting Assad political asylum in Doha on another one. Its all readable in the news if you know what to look for...

Hypocrats! Trying to look good from the outside, but rotten on the inside.

@ Speedhold

Was the e-mail you received this morning a reply to an earlier mail you sent them? People from Recruitment / HR seem to give complete random answers to questions asked by those contacting them!!!.

Or was the e-mail sent to you without any previous corresponding? (except for your previous updates..).

I have sent them multiply emails as i have not heard anything since july 2012 . I really needed to know whats going on . Today they emailed me saying this from a recrutiment coordinator . This same person told a friend of mine that i wasnt in the pool in august 2012 when he asked about my status as he was in doha getting his resdient permit and medical . So honestly I really dont know whats going on as in the email they say that is there iis a vacant position then i may get called sooner. Its a shame that there is not a concrete answer as when im suppose to join ..

I know how you're feeling.
I personally got the message that I'm definetly not needed in 2013. I highly doubt I will be given the opportunity to join at all..It has been over 1 year since my interview and I know others that have been waiting for 15 months+ since their interview as of today.
Fact is I (and many others) applied as NTSO and they probably just don't need us anymore.

For you I think it's a different scenario. They have been saying they need 700+ pilots a year at least for the coming years.

I really don't understand what is going on. The e-mail you received is once again very short and confusing (I highly doubt the guy that replied to you knows your file, ie the fact that you already got your offer!!), why is there no one in QR that has the politeness, willingness and the balls to tell us what is really going on and more importantly: WHAT we can expect!?

Very clear message for those who qualify and have good experience: EK and the other big UAE airline should be your top choices in the Gulf. Simple as that. If you haven't already, send out your apps as soon as possible.

Please be informed that as of today, the next available Date of Joining for First Officers as per training requirement, is on November 2013.
Two scenarios:
1 - They will get very few aircraft this year.
2 - They have lots of people doing nothing waiting for training.

Otherwise they will need FO's and maybe SO's.

Grrr My today's opinion

Hi Jack...,

Same as you, dumped since july last year. Getting tired of this airline world and ready to take a non flying job. No need to move the family, no need to wait for undefined period of time (if it ever come)... I'm from Europe and honestly I don't see any bright future out here for pilots. Only countries looking are in ME or Asia and treating us like bus driver. I guess having to wait for Qatar is the perfect opportunity to look for something else as it may never come , this is maybe a sign for some of us to change the orientation of our career. I know it's not really that positive but for f*** sake, open your eyes and realize those people doesn't give a sh*t that you are unemployed, that you think it is highly disgraceful to keep people waiting and in the dark and blablabla(100 % true though). Time to move on boys, aviation will never be as good as it was in the past...

Stay positive and hope 2013 will bring us what we are waiting for

A type-rated friend of mine (FO >1500s hours on type) has been in Doha since Nov and has his Sim training scheduled for Feb. Other colleagues (2 typed CA and 1 non-type) who joined in 2012 all waited around doing sweet F.A. for 4-6 months.

2 more colleagues (1 FO + 1 CA both typed and experienced) also awaiting their DOJ.

It makes sense for them to start to clear the backlog of pilots waiting training In-house before they start taking on any new pilots. Terrible waste of money to have them on the payroll (even if it is basic pay) just to attend a few classes per month.

Ongoing problems with the B787 will only further slow down their crewing needs.

In Pool since June 2012. F/O B737. Total time 7800hrs. Current employer phased out B737 last month, Since then started A320 course with current employer. Bonded for 3 years. Not such a big deal, can always leave early and pay the bond. Awaiting update in February. Applied with Qatar February 2012, and few months before applied with Emirates. No news from Emirates since then, untill today. I have received an invitation to attent first phase of selection with Emirates in Amsterdam at beginning of March. I am not kidding my self, since the selection process is quiet difficult, and chances to succeed are quiet slim. Just have to wait and see. Hope things start to move at Qatar. In the mean time I am blessed to have a job as many of you in this forum don't. I wish you the best.
