Capt Krunch quote: That leaves us with the macho men space shuttle astronauts who think they are gods gift to aviation and feel they all have been hand picked for the role, but in fact they are whats left over in the bottom of the barrel, and they don't even know it. Now they know!!!!!!!

I know a QR 777 trainer from a previous life and he is one of the best instructors I have known.I doubt whether he has changed. Not always good to generalize I would say.

Non0..EK was denied Canadian expansion market by canadian authority a few weeks ago following an issue with UAE authority who doesn't let canadian army to use UAE bases anymore.
So maybe after having an american base here in Doha..soon we gone have a Canadian one...
A Canadian embassy is opening next year in doha...might be the first step..

...thanks LOC! Yes I've heard the Canadian are closing/moving Al Minhad base in UAE to Al Udeid in Qatar for soldiers RNR and decompression.
So probably will see more flights from Doha heading to beautiful Canada in the nearest future!

Regarding the quality (or lack of) among our instructors, I must have had a smooth run through training. Granted one bad apple turned up, but overall here is some food for thought:

IM from Egypt and LC from Italy are two of the best instructors I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. OF of Jordan, RD from Philippines and BK from Kiwiland are also way up there on the list.
Not just great instructors but real gentlemen.

agreed, excellent guys. but the fact remains you are only commenting on 1 fleet within the airline. To speak generally, the airline and it's training falls far below standard for an international airline of this (self proclaimed) caliber.

Krunch,
No doubt correct. My experience of our instructors is still limited to the A320.

TRUE or FALSE?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if what I've heard from your side is true?? Are all new recruits having to go on the A320 for 3years before being allowed to move across fleets? Is this the case or just until the training backlog has been taken care of?

I totally understand from the position of all the guys and girls who have been working their a**es off on that fleet! Must be annoying when people jump the queue!

BUT if they're in need of pilots and other ME operators are offering direct wide body places is it not a little silly!

Any info would be welcomed!

For captain at least its not an issue....
Not a single Airline in the middle east recruit DEC for wide body/long haul..except .QR...
F/O..might be a different issue..
