Mary, MASenger is not entirely wrong!. He is alluding to a worst case scenario; ie when conflict escalate between American backed Jewish interests and Muslim radicals. When !!!! hits the fan, I sincerely advise you have a ready escape plan. Other than that things will be OK; just lie low, keep cool and do not get into altercations that get you in trouble with the authorities ( includes traffic accidents.....you will always be wrong no matter what ) which will expose your identity and provide an excuse for the sickos to jump on you. As Sireh had wished...Shalom & Wassalam.

Just bring the ten commandments with you there is a lack of morality prevailing, don't know if you can see it yet...
While you are at it bring your M4A1, you might just needed to blow the head of one of these islamic terrorists.

what about a jew who'se a US citizen while in his/her passport it says they were born in Israel...?
It could be a family of diplomats who are jewish that just happened to be stationed in Israel at the time..... do you think they stand a chance as pilots for EK?

Downwindabeam I would recommend referring that question to the
United Arab Emirates - Ministry of Interior Naturalization & Residency Administration - Dubai http://www.dnrd.gov.ae/dnrd/default.htm. They will certainly be able to answer this question for you.
Nevertheless my guess would be no problem.

What about Jewish passengers? Several months back an Emirates flight from Osaka to Dubai, (operated 3 crew) was assigned with a local F/O. A premium class passenger was a Jewish female. The local F/O got wind of this and refused to do the flight. Eventully special dispensation was received from the DGCA to operate the flight back with 2 pilots only. The local F/O returned to crew accommodation and paxed back the following day. Do you think any disciplinary action was tken? No, just a great job in hushing it all up. So how many Jewish pax do EK have on their thrice daily JFK Flights. I guess it would not look good to potential customers if word got out.

I am a Bahraini Muslim and I have a Bahraini Jewish friend, there are a hand full of Bahraini Jewish families leaving in perfect harmony here; non of them has ever (at least in recent history that I can recall) been harassed or disrespected. I hope the same is the case in UAE. The point I am making is that we don’t have any thing against Judaism, in fact Judaism and Christianity is a part of our religion. However Zionism is totally different matter; if I where you I would openly admit that I am Jewish but I will defiantly not show any support for the Zionists or the Zionist state (Israel).

Dr. Know, except for a few Europeans and Australians, EK makes a great deal of its money carrying Indians, Pakistanis, and Asians in general, with or without the so-called first world passports.
Had EK depended on carrying Jews, or other white western folks, they wouldn't make any money.
Now, as per hiring Jewish pilots, this is a non-issue. There are several pilots with Jewish surnames flying for EK. Quoting Tristar above, the Arabs tolerate all other religions (as long as you don't try to talk them out of theirs); but, they have a big bone with the Zionists, the land-takers, the Israelis.

From all my time living here, one thing I've learnt is to never say "never". Making money is the prime concern around here and if bringing in another pilot means more money, you have a chance.
However, even if you did make it in, I would guess that sooner or later someone, a coworker or even a passenger, would object to it and all would be for not.
(Bye the way, my full admiration for your open-mindedness.)

If Dubai doesn't work, come to bahrain. we have a synagogue and some prominent Jewish families (nonoo has the Western Union Franchise and Reuben deal in electronics). We did/do have a Jewish member of the Shura council.
Half the posts here are reasonable the other half are nutters. I would encourage you to come to the Gulf and see what it's like.

Shalom Mary...
... you have been requested by a nice gentleman to bring the 10 Commandments with you, if y'all come.
I was wonderin' if, since there's a whole bunch a rules here already, if ya could just bring, say, 6 or 7 Commandments?
I'd like that!
Good luck with your initiative young lady!
