ATC Sectorisation at OMAA

As per Sunday the 3rd June 2007 Abu Dhabi Approach will be "sectorised"

On weekdays between 0300 - 1000 UTC (outside these hours APP and Kopters will be combined) or when deemed necessary:

Traffic operating at 2,500 feet and above will be controlled by Abu Dhabi Approach/Radar on 124,4 MHz. Instrument/Visual Approaches will remain on 124,4 and transferred directly to Abu Dhabi Tower 119,2 MHz.

Traffic below 2,500 feet will be controlled by Abu Dhabi Kopters on 127,5. Mainly VFR traffic will operate on this frequency.

The benefits should become noticeable early on. 124,4 should become less congested and more user friendly with improved services for IFR flights.

Like the Emirates ACC and Dubai APP, Abu Dhabi APP will also introduce Sector Loading, which means maximum capacity of 9 speaking aircraft at any given time (may be increased to 11 for a period of 10 mins until restrictions can be effective) on each sector or combined. In the event of over-loading, an aircraft might be required to hold; delayed his departure; increased spacing between arrivals/departures etc.

Your feedback is important. Please avoid negative feedback on the frequency though Otherwise please comment as you like.

So?

So, have you noticed the difference by splitting the low level VFR traffic away from 124,4??? Any feedback?

Still feels the same to me, coming from Itrax.. Not very busy other than to hold 11000 till Rovos for some traffic below. Not sure about peak hours though. Maybe some others can give some feedback. Cheers.

Hi GTR-34

Just some clarity on those routes.
The area between ROVOS-ITRAX-SODEX-NOBTO back to ROVOS is Al Ain airspace up to 9500ft. Above that is UAE (AREA Control) airspace.
During daytime, Al Ain use their airspace for Military training. On occasion, military jet traffic route north/south and back through this area- Called AREA SOUTH being active up to 100,000ft.

During these periods, AUH ATC can/may only descend you yo 110 000ft till you pass either NOBTO or ROVOS being inbound from the East.

I know it is confusing as some time you get 7000ft....reason is that when Al Ain is not busy and the South Area not active, they and theUAE ACC Control deligate their airspace to AUH ATC. Specially over weekends, afternoons and at night.

Hope this clears it up for you.

Futher....being help at 7000ft on right-hand downwind till about 12nm DME?? This is due to the Prohibited Airspace around the Beach Palace--OMP49, Sfc to 6500ft.

PS. good luck with your descend profile unless you're Atlantis returning from space
