Unhappy EY closing LGW

Travelled back from LGW a couple of days ago and was told that EY would stop all LGW services and close the station in March!
It seems a very strange decision to give up those slots...

The Hogan axe falls again!....does this guy know what he is doing!
Not really the message a new airline wants to be sending out....I suppose he will sell off the new HQ next (before its built!)

If I am not mistaken, EY is spending a lot of money buying new LHR slots. In such a case, they will not need LGW anymore as the better connections will be at LHR.
