QR info
It has been a while since my last post on pprune. I am thinking of applying for a DEC at QR. I am a current 320 driver with 5 various types and approx 8000+ hours of which 5000 are pic. Any input about days off, quality of life for a family and salary would be a big help. Thanks.

CRJIDE:
Without being too negative but close to the reality:
1ays off: well donīt plan anything on your days off as the stupid rooster team we have here keep cancelling it and posponed it( without asking you of course..), they do whatever they want without any consideration for your private live.
2:Quality of live: totally screwed by the remark nr 1.
3: salary: Bad due to the hight cost of live in doha and the renting price.( half of your salary may go for renting a villa). No pension. No extra. No profit share.
Conclusion:...do a search for an other airline...

all estated by LOC is true,,,besides when you do the interview they say they provide furnished flats.... JA, JA they are in the worst area in Doha (by the way no much of a difference from a good area), they are so ugly the people who are there call it Baghdad....
Of course if you are Cabin crew and female they will put you on a compound with pool, Do i make myself clear about respect to pilots?

The best advice: Go to the other thread (chillaxing), where a guy called "2dogs" posted 12 possible reasons why to join QR.
Read them carefully and if you can answer any of them with a big yes, you might find QR an interesting place to work for for about 15 months. If you don't fit in any of the categories, you will be frustrated very quickly (in less than 6 months) and wish you had never come here...I'm dead serious and I highly recommend you to consider ALL (as A320 captain even Air Arabia) other airlines in the area before coming to QR. The workload is about the same everywhere (lots of hours), but as long as Akbar Al Baker is running the show in Doha, it really is a place to stay away for anybody who has ever known "the land of the free!". Good luck with your choice, but don't tell anyone later we didn't warn you

Thanks for the info guys. By just going on the company websites and doing reseach there the packages sound pretty enticing. I always realize that there are more issues at hand than meets the eye though and I value input. It is obvious that avaition in the middle east is growing at an incredible rate and will probably continue to do so over the next 10 years or so, so with that being said what is the best deal going over in the Gulf? any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try Etihad, even with a 320 rating they may take you, and at least itīs a better place to stay.Even Emirates, they are so desperated for pilots.
But if you can avoid Qatar airways...that would be a wise decision...
and you will not regret it.
Cheers.
