Goat Airways will probably give you a shot as a 2nd officer. They have several female pilots and a female Captain. As a muslim you might find life in Qatar palatable.... maybe. But try everywhere else first of course.

Good Luck

Hi sofee,

It was a little challenging trying to get the full picture from your post. I can understand your frustrations.

If I gather correctly, you have 5 years working experience in an airline, then decided to get your licence and join the "boom train". You have now completed your CPL/IR /Atpl ??? and are looking for a job, to kickoff a career as an airline pilot.

You have been told that you are not the suitable candidate.

Hey.....that sounds pretty normal.

Anyway.....jokes aside.

If you are facing problems because you are a lady, then you might want to look at outfits that do have ladies in their pilot force.

I don't think the fact that you are Muslim puts you at a disadvantage at all sofee, but if you feel that it is an issue, then maybe you might want to give some of the South East Asian outfits a try. Try Air Asia.....They've got a few ladies flying.

All the best

I suggest before you apply to any airline you learn how to spell properly and get out of the habit of writing in text-speak. You would not write your CV like that I hope!

English Classes recommended

Hello fellow lady aviator,
You do seem to express yourself well with "mmmmm"'s & "chuckles"! (your reply on 28th Nov 2006 at 0531) but for some reason or other you happen to overlook the very noraml way to communicate your idea through PPRuNE and disregard appropriate use of phraseology to express your frustration! Which for sure makes the pilots wonder, if you should follow the Passion of flying or start mastering the English language to begin with.
And for your information, there are a plenty of Muslim Female Pilots, piloting big jets around the world, and middle east is their place to be.
Regards
INV

Or fastening the "crotch" strap in all that clobber.....

Nice islamic name there too, Sofee..... Must be another bored EK pilot.

Come on Ali G, stick to playing Borat. Respect...

Muslim Pilots....I am sorry, but I must be too thick to see the issue. Your religion if for your pleasure. Its doesnt change anything. Budhist pilot, protestant pilot, catholic pilot....still just a pilot. So put the religion in the back seat. Strap it in securely and take it with you when you leave the aircraft. On board you are just a pilot.
Having said that the industry needs more female pilots, so please, if you really want to fly, come a join us.
Get you license and work yourself up through the commuters
Good luck to you.

If you have a permanent HK ID card, you are eligable for employment by Cathay or Dragonair under local conditions. Min 250 hours for Dragonair, don't know about Cathay.

try EK

Hey, Sofee, why not try EK? Besides the female nationals that I met, I heard that some Brazilian females were at least being interviewed (not confirmed). I like living here; though it is not for everyone, perhaps you would too.

Maybe not you were thinking about, however I have seen a Royal Air Maroc crew with just females. CAPT/FO/Cabin Crew.

Worth a try if Morocco (sp) is appealing.

EK has two ladies flying who are definately not UAE Nationals. A South American and a Brit/Jamaican.
