UniversalPilot's MEA winge thread

MEA lebanese Airlines Cheif Pilot has recruited his 2 sons , his 7 cousins and Also the Deputy Cheif Pilot recruited his 2 brothers and making a total of 11 members of the family who are all fresh from School with not more than 250 hours and rejecting Qualified Pilots with good flying time and Experience. Allowing the good lebanese pilots to now look for other Airlines . IS this FAIR?

MEA (lebanese Airlines) Facts
- THEY ARE MONOPOLIZING THE LEBANONS AVIATION INDUSTRY
- THEY DO NOT ALLOW ANY OTHER AIRLINE TO ESTABLISH
- POOR SALARIES
- RACISM toward RELIGION CONCERNING EMPLOYMENT
- CABIN CREW are not fixed , they earn money per trip
- NO PENTION CONSIDERATIONS
- REESERVATIONS NOT PROMISED
- MOST EXPENSIVE TICKETS IN THE WORLD
- NO GOOD WELFARES
- ONLY AIRLINE CHARGING 1000 US DOLLARS FOR MEDICALS
- AND MEA IS THE ONLY AIRLINE IN THE WORLD THAT WILL START YOUR - CARRIER WITH DEBT......YOU WILL OWE THE COMPANY AS SOON AS YOU START BECUASE THEY KNOW THEIR SALARIES IS TOO POOR SO NO PILOT WILL RUN AWAY TO OTHER AIRLINES ....BUT INFACT WHEN THE PILOTS ARE PAID WELL THEY CAN NEVER LEAVE.

I am an MEA cadet, and my acceptance into MEA is pure PROOF that there is no "wasta" (connections/contacts) required to get into MEA.

In my entire family history I am the first person to be interested and pursure a career in aviation. That includes friends of the family and distant relatives.

You are right, it is extremely difficult to get into MEA. The other guys and myself had to work extremely hard to get into MEA by studying, staying healthy, and most of all proving ourselves in several interviews.

And for all those sons of MEA captains who got in, I can tell of about all those other sons of MEA captains who didnt get in. Out of 31 cadets today about 5 are sons of captains. What about the rest? If the head of Operations Administration (who run the entire recruitment) could not get his brother through, what does that say about the credibility of the selection process. It is very credible, believe me.

I wish the best of luck for anyone who wants to apply in the future to MEA, and there will be selection processes again coming soon. If anyone needs anything, please let me know.

Thumbs down why dont you put your name here and everyone will see the proof

Truly if you are proctecting the interest of MEA and you DONT WANT TO STATE YOUR NAME, this means clearly you are a relative...........SO PLEASE BE A MAN and SAY your NAME .........AND please dont say there is no Connection in LEBANON ....

MY dear CONNECTION IN MEA IS 95% and 5% is from outside JUST TO HIDE THE CASE

YOU COULD ASK ANY LEBANESE and he will tell you the truth.

Universal Pilot

If you knew the Chief Pilot you would know that he has no sons
as for the Deputy Chief I guess his brothers would be past the age limit in any airline.
All your allegations are unfounded.

Like Alexg and JS3 said they would not hire people "Wasta" and put them in the cockpit of a modern airliner, but they might do it for an office job.

JS3 Good Luck in Jerez! In the Beirut Papers today the MEA Chairman is confirming that this summer's tragic events will not affect expansion strategy: 1 extra A330 in 2008 and possibly 4 extra narrowbody before 2009/2010.

I just want to say one last thing because this topic is a waste of all of our time and we shouldnt give it any notice.

To anyone planning to apply to future cadet pilot programs for MEA please do not be discouraged by false comments like those from UniversalPilot. In fact, im just sure that he is just one of those applicants who didnt study and failed the AUB academic exam because he thought it would be easy.

If I can get hired by MEA as a cadet, with no wasta or connection, then it can happen to anyone else who applies and passes the selection. All it takes is some hard work and a good few weeks of study to pass the AUB exams, the rest is just up to you as a person to get through the interviews and medicals.

Good luck to anyone who decides to apply in the future.

MEA

Wasta or not, I don't think it is fair or safe to just hire Cadets with no prior actual Airline experience. Why don't they give us very experienced pilots that spent half of our lives outside Lebanon flying and gaining AIRLINE experience a chance to go back to our country.....
Does originally Lebanese Pilots with thousands of Jet PIC hours deserve a chance to go back to there country and fly there for there Airline? or do they spent the rest of there lives in another country so the MEA Management hire who they want as Cadets.

God Bless You

CRJLEB you are speaking the truth , i swear you are 100 % correct it is very unsafe and unfair to take cadets who even dont like flying. there was this guy he was accepted to the last moment and the eurpeans just interviewed him and asked him why do you want to join MEA and FLy....GUESS what he said: Well I like MEdicine and i like to be a pharmacist but i am getting a free pilot training so what the hell....THE europeans checked him out immideatly and told him he does not have the motivation. and most of these cadets are like this but are relatives and connection, The uncle, the brother, the sister , the what ever all are in and dont know jack about flying.... Meanwhile the innocent and most experinced pilots are dumped out.

A big Example is JS3 and Cedar JEt , these are 100% relatives and are protecting their airline right and its ok but guys dont say there is no connection and i say once again PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND LET EVERYONE SEE THE TRUTH.......................

For anyone to believe that only relatives of MEA employees get hired is absurd.

For anyone to believe that there is no wasta in MEA, is also absurd.

Anyways, why do you need a wasta when you have to pay over 100,000 Euro and sign a bond of $60,000?

Best of luck to the new cadets

*edited for numbers :P

Thumbs down Mea Lebanese Airlines Bond For 100,000 Us Dollars

MEA LEBANESE AIRLINES , CADET PROGRAM BOND IS 100,000 US DOLLARS and GUESS WHAT Its 12 YEARS .......BOND ...PLEASE CHECK THE SITE.

I just checked the site and read it and its clear , I really NEVER saw an AIRLINE CHARGING such a BOND and as HIGH as 100,000 US DOLLARS.

This is very POOR AND NO DIGNITY , how can such an AIRLINE CLAIM SO HIGH AMOUNT OF BOND. NO WONDER MOST CADETS HIRED WERE RELATIVES.

THE OTHER 5% had no option but to CAPITALIZED THEIR HOMES TO GET IN.

MEA SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO---- MEA AND SONS INC.

What about age 40; 10,000 Total time , 17 years Airline experience with 7000 Jet PIC. After my Commercial, Instrument, M.E and CFII , I worked as CFI for 2 years, did Cargo in complex great lakes area weather for one year, flew in congested airports, did Areial photography, Corporate flying for two years .Than I was able to get hired with a National Airline, after I had EXPERIENCE

what do I do, live the rest of my life outside Lebanon so that some spoiled brat can get his way.

We don't really like it , we just love our country.

Whatever...

By the way , I do have my A320 type also ,,, but still the relatives are more important
