Transition Upgrades For EK

Guys

I guess you have all read the crew portal re upgrades now the the 380 is delayed...this can only mean good news for EK f/o's. Looks like the brass are finally getting sorted regarding progression

No matter how you look at this ....its good news for a change.....DEC's have been a disaster......

Good luck Fellas

Tail Rota, you post this message as if you have never before received a letter from AAR. You see, when I read it, all I can see is:"blah, blah, blah, blah, specific circumstances, blah, blah, blah, blah.

You seem to forget that a Transition Upgrade policy is already in place - all an FO has to to is spend 1 year+ on the Boeing after first having spent 3 years on the Airbus!

Don't hold your breath, the FCN will just be a rewording of AAR's Christmas letter where accelerated guys formally will be given the clearance to jump ahead of the rest. Of course, they will also give this to a couple of exceptionally qualified FOs that don't have the accelerated hours - you know, so that "nobody will be disadvantaged"

Tail Rota I hope you are right, it would be the correct and ethically right thing to do.........however.........I think ekpilot may have an answer closer to the truth, I hope he is wrong because if they pull another set of rules out of their hats then we will have 4 queues of varying priorities for upgrades

So how does less aircraft arriving mean more upgrades for Emirates F/Os?

Can't quite get my head around this.

More 777s next year than originally planned = more upgrades, or at least an equal number. Or is it to cover the resignations?

Hey Monty

I think it may be down to pre planned capacity. 1 380 is between 550 and 650 seats....thats about two 340-500's per 380......... so for every 380 that is delayed for he next 2 years...I think its about 10 or so ....thats at last 10 to 15 more 340's in he mean time ....or similar

remeber those seats are already on the market and probably sold.....plus the boeings are still coming thick and fast.......its has to be good.

off to bed now fellas.....need to get my head into that FOM........STILL HOLDING MY BRREEEAAAATHH

No Chance I'm Afraid.

All that is happening here is that with the increased number of boeings now coming, there wont be enough 777 F/O's to upgrade, and i suspect they aren't getting DEC's in the numbers they need. So last resort, transition upgrades for "suitably" qualified airbus f/o's. (Which is how it should be). Good luck and congratulations for those that get a shot, but don't be surprised if the final policy is still discriminatory and a few get bypassed.

Well "Alan" has released his letter about Transition Upgrades...WTF it's exactly the same as the one issued in January or thereabouts..

3 year Airbus f/o's still need 6 months in the RHS of the mighty 777.......so that's about a year from start of transition to getting command.
So at about the time guys will be going to the 380 if I work out the dates correctly, so it will be no quicker for command on the 777 than it would be hanging about on the bus.

Magic....things start to look a bit brighter, or at least less gloomy and they pull another rabbit out of the hat....TA DAH...same old **** re-issued ...

It's the Emirates way...."Promise lots, deliver little...."

As well as the fact that the courses won't start until poss 2nd Qtr 2007, what a crock, absolutely gutted for the fo's.

Oh and get this, apparently it will be the emirates pilots who get the priority for upgrades now

I agree, there is nothing new here. Its just another scam message from TCAS. Mark my words, EK will bungle this opportunity to right some wrongs and in the end those disadvantaged will be further disadvantaged.

EK will not transition upgrade those poor sods waiting for commands on the airbus. EK will continue to bypass the seniority list and they will continue with DEC's. There is no indication whatsoever that things will change.

This was an opportunity to send a message to pilots around the world that EK hads come to its senses. Instead, they will further discourage all suitable FO's applicants, thereby ensuring the continuation of the dreadful DEC policy.

Its laughable yet sad at the same time how these managers have taken one of the most desirable airline jobs and totally mismanaged it. In the past 3 years, all those applicants (who EK had historically deemed the most suitable), no longer even apply to EK. Then again, maybe EK have recently decided that their recruiting practices over the past 15 years were in fact wrong.... haha.
This mismanagement no longer allows EK to select from a vast store of excellent applicants. EK has to accept those who in the past would not have stood a chance. As well, they find themselves having to beg for DEC's, which is sheer comedy.

Why anyone would come to this airline nowadays is a mystery to me. I can understand why some people don't leave, as there is something to that 'Law of Inertia' but to actually move to this place and know full well what is in store? Wow!!
