Indians rule!

Just completed 2 SLF sectors in a Gulf Air Airbus.

Outbound: Seafood or Vegetarian.

Inbound: Chicken Biryami or Vegetarian. Kids meal: Vegetarian.

Ahh, Mumbai sectors, I hear! Nope, not India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh, and hardly any Indians on board (like the ants in your house, there are always one or two).

Silly me, I always thought Veggiemeals sorted under the "special meals" tab?

There is no question about it, Indians rule!

So, what was your crew meal today?

ManaAdaSystem lucky you its only the food. The whole QR is an exclusive Indian club starting from the top ending up at the very bottom. At the very present time there's a hijack by Indians of flight ops going on. Whenever SQ got rid of someone those underachievers end up in QR as high ranking post holder. That's not enough though, immediately the whole bloody family invades the training department and only after few months there's a little brotherhood of Indian TREs. Somehow they're all relatives. Oddly enough they immediately attempt to control everything including rostering by imposing all kind of possible rule variations and millions of papers. The real question is why don't they go home and fly for an Indian airline like jet or kingfisher since those guys are paying hell of the money?

Interesting to know which sectors he encountered this menu selection..have seen it on subcontinent flights for sure as is appropriate, but never anywhere else... FD....dont think the Indian airlines like to offer expat conditions to citizens...story I heard anyway... want to offer them local terms...not as attractive as expat terms...which is a bit foolish in my opinion...lots of talent might want to return home if it werent for that...but then we loose here...so what to do..

ironbutt57, u said it mate. That's the strangest lineament I've ever seen. Which other nation treats it's own people worse than the foreigners? That says it all.

Middle East - S-E Asia, return.
I was not the only pax scratching my head over this meal selection.
My point? The competition is tough, and serving food completely out of sync with what most passengers expect, is not a very smart thing to do. There is only one possible explanation for this, meal selection in GF is done by Indians.
That, along with;
-Booked seats not available on check in
-Reading light not working
-Seat cushions completely worn out
-Not enough blankets
-Not enough pillows
-Tray table broken
-Seat pockets torn
-Most announcments in Arabic only(!)
-No landing cards (twice) (I don't know anything about landing cards, you'll have to talk to the Senior CA)
-When Sayeed pours water down my neck, all I want is; "I'm sorry, I'll get something to wipe it off", and not; "****, ****!"
Keep this up, and GF will soon be distant memory. Not all pax are unskilled workers. Or vegetarians.

Not only ME airlines

I was on a Lufthansa (!) flight from Bangalore to Frankfurt last year and there was only Indian food (veg or non-veg). The non-veg was Chicken Tikka Masala and would have been a disgrace for any Indian take-away in the UK.

When I complained to the CSD about the absence of any German food (on a German airline) I was told that they tried to please the "majority" of passengers. He could not, however, explain why this could not be achieved by simply offering one Indian veg dish and a German non-veg dish, and why non-Indian passengers are simply expected to enjoy Indian food.

I have successfully avoided LH since.

Flying Daggers..so its ok for an airline to be run by europeans but not by indans..is that your point...... why dont you go back to where you came from....indians are doing the same job at half the price europeans do...so dont cry..or go back.

out soursing will happen more as europeans and americans will not pay for the services in their own country....

I'm not even going to try to be politically correct, so I stand to be flamed..

Although I understand that Indians (or other sub-continent nationalities) work for less money then their European colleagues, it doesn't mean that they have to force the Indian way of doing things upon all of us. I mean, what bothers me most is the lies! I do understand that for some Indians, it's hard to say no or to admit a mistake, but hey, get over it! If I ask if something is possible, I want an honest answer, not an answer that pleases me, but will p1$$ me off later when I find out that things didn't work out.

And this is not only in the airline. When I ask the Indin taxidriver if he knows where he's going why he just passed the guilding where I live, and he just says 'Yes yes'.... it kind of works on my nerves..

No problems with the fellows apart from that... and I kind of like their food..

There's a reason they are paid half price: Half price = Half job, and that's no exaggeration, you experience it everywhere, in Dubai anyway!

looks like another inflammable topic here. Its indeed very strange and obviously totally unfair to their own people not to pay them market wages. I personally don't understand it and most certainly wouldn't appreciate to be paid peanuts for the same job. If it was up to me in any country the locals would have the absolute priority like anywhere else. One can see it different ways but I think its just in their blood not to say NO or don't know (taxi drivers). I sometimes really say turn left in order for him to go right and it works. Don't ask me why? Brits spoiled it once again. F.D with due respect but from an F/O point of view the new head of training department along with the new management pushed for the upgrades which is a good thing. I very much hope they keep on going this way. Other than that well It's all politics. Stay the heck out of it.

OK nice to see the comments regarding the great Indian invasion ....it's happening everywhere and aviation's small fish compared to IT/BPO , hell , we're even teaching european/american kids math and science....soon u'll have white kids shaking their heads profusely saying," Not a worry saaaar"

Ok, I'm an Indian pilot flying for an Indian airline and this is/are the reasons I've been told we get paid lesser than our expat counterparts to do the same job.don't totally agree with it but here goes,at least these are the terms in my company , not sure about others...

1.Expats on 1 year renewable contract/ u on a permanent one.
2.Expats dont get medical cover/ u and your family including parents get it.
3.Expats dont get loss of license(LOL),temporary medical unfitness(TMU)/U get it being an Indian also company will give u a position in th company commensurate with your qualifications and experience on permanent medical unfitness.
4.Expats dont get Provident fund(PF),gratuity benefits/u get it.
5.Expats dont get comapny travel benefits , i.e free tickets for family etc/U do.
6.Expats don't get overtime money, meaning they do 50 or 100 hours , pay is same...does make quite a difference in my company.

Ok if u sit down and do the math ,it does work out fairly even although some pilots would prefer to see the money in their paychecks and not totally interested in the social benefits the airline provides.

Personally, I'm enhancing my paycheck by doing a bit of tuitioning on the net , teaching math to Aussie kids, just need to work on the accent and getting the lingo right....Gud on ya mait.....how's that???/ Ok just kidding ..

What, I ask, do "nurse's from south india..with brit accsents...wokring in UK" have to do with aviation? Get a life bud.

Thread closed - going nowhere & certain to be jumped on by some of our less tolerant friends.
