My wife wants to leave as soon as possible. Everything depends on what you have at the moment. I used to have a job, not a perfect one, but at least in my country where I know how the things work and with a minimum of fairness. Work atmosfere is great but GF lacks in other important issues, like housing, allowances( they are the same since the 90's). If you are single it is ok, but with the family... Its another story.

Mine Loves it!
Well my Wife loves living here! She enjoys the shopping, cafes & restaurants! And no she is not one of the ladies that 'do coffee' although I know many that do and they love it too.
She has not had any problems with the locals, in fact she says that she has yet to meet one that she has had problems with.
My wife also works, we were under the impression before we arrived that she would not be able to work but that is simply not true, especially if she has a trade. Although the pay for expat wives is often very low as the employers say that they are supported by the husband, so pay is pin money. Most expat wives don't work - because they don't want to!
Bahrain has its problems but these are not the people, it is a little restricted as it is a small island and the only real way to get off is by Air but if you work for GF that’s not a problem.
If you have children under 15 years old then education is good as well. Although we did have problems with A levels (16+) in one school.
I agree that the GF housing allowance is not good! To live anywhere half decent then you will have to put some of your money towards rent, but then again I did have to when I was back in the UK and my employer didn't give me any allowance!
As long as you are flexible, accept the local culture, are open minded and perhaps a little laid back then Bahrain is great.
If you would like more info (even from my 'better half') then PM me.
