EK Info

Reading form various posts, I get un understanding of a mixed reaction about life in the pit.
Can anyone give us an unbiased view of the place, pro's/con's, regrets, was it for the better or worse, etc if you can find the time of course.I know it all comes to oneself on how you'll make a go out of it.
Any insight?
Thanks,
AA

Not sure if anyone has the energy for that anymore...

You may have to use the SEARCH function. Plenty of summations on here.

NO, everybody here is biased by their experiences
The longer we have been here the worse it has got, simple equation really.

Read the posts related to EK pilots wanting to leave the airline. Evidently, it is harder to get out of EK than to get hired at EK - that should tell you something about morale at EK. Don't be lured in by their shiny new jets...

Hi Guys/Gals,

Well thanks for the input.Bad Morale, deteriorating T&C's etc are pretty much the norm nowdays at all airlines.Or at least it seems that way.
How about lifestyle in the pit?
Sure its got to beat the UK.(any place for that matter beats the UK).
I would like to join a company and retire with it, (which just might be a rarety to find a company anyway).Do you guys find it hard being away from friends and family/or just missing home but cant get there?I find it boring in the UK, bugger all to do, zero social life(nature of the locals)as well as long hours at work, not to mention the greed on all sides. For example-pay and display-you go to spend money at a shopping centre(if you can call it that)and you have to pay for your car parking.Healthcare is next to non-existent unless you are on the dole and live in council house, then you get priority. Not to mention the tax, tax, tax. If one buys a bigger house then the social engineers from the council will rub their hands together for even more tax.I dont mind working hard at all, at our outfit we do 900hrs a year and I love my job, what I cant stand for is not being able to enjoy life after work beacuse this place offers nothing in that way, especially if one has kids, or unless one joins the herd and heads for the Costa Del Blista in the 2 days of summer that we get here.
Anyone else had this experince or is it just me?
Any other oppinions on the pit ?

AA

this place will never be home, you pay tax now at home but you will pay more here in in-direct tax( ie. restaurants and booze) Most peoeple here inc. me thought the same as you , stay here till the end of our working life, it soon turns out that will never be the case, unless you like taking it up the [email protected]e and the job is a joke. MAY BE thats what you like............ Ps done 11 years here now but off in the new year. Cant wait
