Hello everyone,
Rumers has it,that pilots in qatar airways will soon be flying two types of airbus,any merit to this rumers?
Is there any company doing this?
And if so, the pilots be required to do two recurrents every 6 month.will they like it.
Any more info about this?

The right name for it is MFF (mixed fleet flying) and CCQ (cross crew qualification) and both is very common in the Airbus world and intensively promoted by Airbus Industries. There is hardly any A320/330/340 operator that hasn't done it.
The reason why certain airlines gave it up (like LH) is that fleets are so big that there is no disadvantage of having two different kind of pilot corps. So you do again one short and one long haul group, which improves the flexibility for crew planning.
I'm surprised that QR hasn't had it before ...

This is also done by Swiss Airlines.
According to JAA you can have up to 2 type ratings current on your licence. Example Boeing 737-200 and a seperate entry Boeing 737-300/900. With my airline we have two seperate LPC checks, one for the 200 and the other for the 300, and one OPC on the 300.
So thay can have Airbus 320 and Airbus 330; Airbus 320 and Airbus 340; Airbus 330 and Airbus 340.

Mix fleet flyig
with regard to the same subject, Gulf Air has done it's MFF sence 2002 so pilots is grouped as A330/A340 or A330/A320 and the SIM is done ever 6 month on one type. it is very interesting you get use to it with time.
