EK Commuting Rosters
Have just heard that a moderately senior Aussie Captain is the latest (of about 10 guys if I am not being told porkies) to have been told he can commute and his roster will comprise of around 10 consecutive days off every month. Apparently each case has been made on an individual basis. Whilst this sounds good and is potentially good news for those of us who live close enough to Dubai to allow a monthly commute it could, depending on numbers, affect the outcome of our 'ever-so-reliable' CRS roster bidding system. Could this also be a method to attract DECs and further disadvantage the current Captains?

10 days off a month to commute? Pull the other leg. The company is already flat out trying to get a full months roster built for each pilot. To reduce the days even more and create less flexibility for the rostering staff....surely not sunshine! Think the guys you heard about are either wishing they had 10 days off a month or they are pretty close friends of the Sheikh. Read the posts......do you see anyone getting these days off and saying something positive about the roster. I suspect not! If these days off are happening then best of luck guys and I would suggest you blokes keep it under your hat.

No reason why this should not be achievable especially on the 340 even throwing in the odd night turnaround to keep the rosters fair. Not sure that the mismanagers would ever agree to lazy pilots having 10 days off in a row.

Yes on A340 it is possible to get 10 days off ,and 90 hours, as well as trips to your home base.
Apparently some EK veterans said they need to go home ,families grown up and if its not possible for a base or commuting they will resign and retire or go elsewhere.

Can I be a Veteran 2
Any more Gossip on how long the guys have been in the company and does it only apply to Training or to the line guys?
Any idea who approved this? I thought A.S. did not give a Toss?
Flew with an F.O. recently who said he was told G.N. thinks that there is no problem with the salary terms and conditions here in EK so who would be sharing all the LOVE amongst us Bus guys?
After 7 years in the sandpit I Reckon I can come up with a good shaggy dog storey for the boss especially if it gets me a descent roster

Is this true? Can anyone confirm it.
A proposition for Alan:
In return for ten days off (in a block) every month, I will do Reserve for the remaining days. Every month. No changes to T & C's needed. Will take my leave in two three week blocks at the company's discretion.
How about a poll on that one eh?

Well theres no union so go in and ask for it , you would be surprised how many silent deals have and will go down , blabbing about it may destroy it for the individual concerned.
Just remember it doesnt have to be fair to everyone because if you dont like it leave.
I will not say anymore details unless you guys form a union and throw it on Alan,s desk.

Quite a prophetic choice of spelling with ' descent roster'. You're correct of course, because they have been on the down and down these last few months or so..........
