Just recently I have been reading the March Airbus Fleet Update Newsletter, and when I came across BP's CRS Update concerning credit hours, I suddenly remember our letter from AAR explaining the 'new' cost neutral credit pay scheme.

BP (F/O working on the CRS help team, no blame to him!!) publishes a table with the minimum and maximum credit hours which are to be used by CRS to produce each months roster. On the Airbus fleet, it's quite obvious that the minimum credit for a roster to be produced by CRS, is very close to, or even over the overpay limit. Although this is no big surprise, it's acually the first time that the company publishes these numbers, and admits that the 'new'credit scheme is not so cost neutral but instead is a hidden paycut.

The credits used to produce the roster are actually the same credits that were used for overpay in the old days. When looking at these figures, it shows that for almost every month, almost every pilot on the fleet would have had a roster published that would give him overpay, with a CERTAIN overpay for EVERY airbus pilot in the months Mar, Aug, Nov and Dec 05, and Jan 06. (These months have all 82 or more hours as a minimum for AB pilots, the old threshold for 31day months)

I know that's stale news, but I am considering presenting these 'group' FACTS, not individual rosters, to AS. I did forget the exact thresholds for different months though. Can someone provide me with these in order to make a correct analysis?

Also, note that this is the MINIMUM credit for a roster to be published. The avarage spread between minimum and maximum credit for CRS is about 18 hours. This means that on avarage, every AB pilot should have had about 9 hours of overtime every month for the last 12 months, e.i. 108 hrs in total. Probably more worth then the bonus we will get in a few weeks time.

Did anyone keep track of his roster and the old vs 'new' credit scheme?

I know it's a lost cause, but somehow I think we can't let them get away with it, certainly not after the company publishes figures that prove that they stole money from us...

There is a trainer on the Boeing, initials K P, who could provide all the detail you require of actual vs old scheme.

When I discussed the change with him the first months saving in overtime was in the order of 1 million Dhs - can only imagine the savings have gone up as the utilisation rates of pilots has gone up.

yeah, yeah, yeah....

Great, we know that the system is not 'cost neutral' and so do the management. But what can we do about it and more importantly, what are we going to do about it?
