Angry Problems with Comms in Muscat FIR

Coming back to Doha a few days ago and could not get contact with Muscat until over 100 miles into their airspace!!
Mumbai is bad enough, but to loose the VHF too?

One of the controllers said it was becasue of the rain? Surely he was joking?

Comms Problems

Sorry about that KK....

We had a massive thunderstorm the previous day and flooding caused the shtudown of a number of systems.

the problem is not with our gear it is the links via the telecomms server that went down.

By all means complain about it, we were not too happy with the situation either.

BTW, I must thank those pilots that did all the relaying for us, much appreciated, and made a very difficult situation go much more smoothly.

Also thanks to the Emirates F/O that gave his cabin announcement, just prior to top of descent on the frequency! Normally it's a bit busy to listen to that, but I think we all needed a laugh!
