Angry Its not just pilots who are resigning

It's not often I am sad to see one of our management team leave, as there is always the fore-lorn hope that we will get someone better, but in this case it is about as likely as an on-time roster.
It looks pretty certain that the only manager here with any integrity or concern for pilots is off to fresher pastures in June. LL has finally called it a day, don't know how he survived it so long, but I personally will be sad to see him go.
Good luck to him, god help us, roll on the next HR kissing weenie.

Here here.
I was actually thinking of writing him and begging him to stay.
He's the ONLY guy I trust over there...

If this is true, he will be sorely missed at EK. LL would be one of the few men I have met in this business who has never even approached his 'Peter Principle' ceiling.

If he's going to another employer, that company will soon discover how incredibly lucky they are - just as I suspect his current employer will discover quite the opposite!

Spare a thought for the poor sod who'll be replacing him. That's a seriously big set of shoes he/she'll be trying to fill.

I'm just hoping and praying that the rumours I heard recently that his equally able opposite number on the other fleet is also considering departing aren't true. If she is, God only knows how the wheels will stay attached.

LL was and still is the most approachable, helpful, understanding man that has ever graced the aviation world. A great loss and a huge disappointment to see him go. Many managers from here could do well to take a leaf out of L's book and interface with pilots effectively like he does.

Will be sorely missed.

Will be interesting to wait and learn with what gets put in place.

If true, it is indeed a very sad day for EK....(and us!!)

A truly top bloke, and one of the few any of can actually trust, and who actually cared for the wellbeing of his pilots (albeit his hands were probably tied most of the time).

I guess he is going into retirement now (age 63 ish) as he was planning to do 2 years ago when the company begged him to stay on a little longer!

LL, if you're reading this, you will be sorely missed but I'm sure none of us can blame you for throwing in the towel!!

Enjoy the rum punch and jerk chicken on the beach!!!

LL I wish you many years of retirement and good people like yourself to be near. We hope a capable replacement will take over but understand if 'Your type' doent fit the mould anymore. So many of our type will be leaving soon as well.

I think what LL meant was that the new HR policy REQUIRES him to leave in June due to his age. The only one who can grant an extension beyond this is HH. I get the distinct impression that he would prefer to stay and slog it out for a couple more years, but as he said, it isn't up to him. I think we should petition the relevant people to make an exception from this absurd policy in his case. God help us if he does go. It's hard to believe that even our management would shoot themselves in the foot so badly by forcing the best manager in the company to leave. It's sad but true!

Fleet Manager - Airbus

See on the company webpage under List of All Vacancies that applications are sought for the post of Fleet Manager - Airbus - Dubai by the 28th Feb 2006. Is this standard before the post is offered back to the man once all candidates have been considered? Or has the decision been made?

So glad to see that the great man has not resigned. One of the true gentlemen in the airline. However, could someone tell me why the story on the portal is supported by the picture of an early seventies porn star

The Fleet Manager Airbus position will be filled by:

Yuri Blihdemburp, with vast experience in his previous airline; “Baltic Budget” a subsidiary of the reputable “Rachministan Air”.

Yuri was chosen from numerous applicants. (Read: himself and the Brit 340 driver who applies for everything - GS)

Yuri has indicated his first task would be to rid the company of low moral, by cancelling all leave to increase crewing levels and thereby easing the workload for all.

Join me in welcoming Yuri in his new position.
