Moving to Doha

Hi all!
I am shortly to start a new job in Doha - flying Sea King helicopters for the Qatar Emiri Air Force and wondered if anyone had any advice for a Brit and his family who will be moving to Doha

Thanks in advance.

living in Doha as is really not that bad... but have to say.. traffic is really bad, as is the driving.. they all drive very aggresive to say the least.
this place is not very welcoming at first.. but they do have most everything.. we all the basics anyway ( i.e. Starbucks and western style shopping malls etc ).
Rental costs are soaring thru the roof and further.
I must say that this is the safest place we have ever lived... if you have children it's also good, and a good bit of things to do as well.
get yourself a 4x4 for desert outtings and camping.. then get a boat for piece of mind, solitude, fishing and the like.
other than that.. it's a typical Arabic country with it's standard querks and difficulties, but safe.. no worries there.
Cheers
Z

safe ..well, itīs still probably one of the safest place in the world, but keep in mind that theft and robbery are increasing in Doha...cfr a recent article in the newspaper.
So donīt play with the devil.
