Any comments about the "new and improved" so-called "Family-and-Friends" ticketing procedures??

Re: Gulf Air Staff Travell "Services"

I understand they are attempting to deal with employees SELLING their tickets--hence the new procedures.

However, be sure to list ALL your family at once because once you click apply you will NOT be able to add others. That is silly---typical of GF, someone was not thinking.

Re: Gulf Air Staff Travell "Services"

Yeah, I read about the "offical reason" on the memo.
How difficult can it be to find out who the culprits are that are selling their tickets for profit. Who hasn't been approached by members of (mostly local) staff, mainly the folks in the offices, with questions about "unused tickets"??

Whow stupid are the new rules?? What about single staff who may enter into new relationships in the course of the year? What if, god forbid, one of your nominees dies? -supply a death certificate in order to replace the dearly departed with someone else?

I say let's scrap the bloody tickets altogether. What's the point? You can get cheaper firm space tickets on line than throuogh staff travell. (how about BD 99 returns to DUB, recently???)

The problem is weak leadership. Make GF a 7-star airline? With staff morale at a -7 star level, I think not..

Gulfboy, you aint a happy bunny are you? Sounds like you need to move on before you give people the impression GF is the worst place to be. With all the great opportunities out there and all the resignations you talk about, cant you secure just one? It would give the rest of us who are still sane a bit of a break from all the moaning. Suggest EK, they are right up your alley.

Well, went in to travel services (ahhhh--hate going in there) and spoke with Ebrahaim. He told me that once you click ADD to confirm your nominees you are finished--no more additions. He claimed that he sent out an email (iI and many others did not receive one) explaining the procdure. Those of us who added only one or two people already are out of luck for the rest of they year!!

Would be nice if someone would rectify this and allow additions up until the end of the allowabe tim period- February.

Then again I don;t expect much these days from Travel Services. The wife flew home in Dec on a leave ticket which is upgradable to J class if space is available. I watched as 3 people on ID90's were upgraded while she got economy. I confronted, nicly, the gate agent and she called GF staff (she was BAS). The 'looked into it', came back and sheepishly said he could do nothing at this point. SO much for our 'benefits'. I hear this happens frequently with BAS employees deciding themselves who should sit where.

Finally, I had my sister in law come over today on Friends and Family pass. I applied online on Jan 5th but ad to go in 3 days ago to get it finalized due to holidays!!!! ANyway, the morning LHR-BAH was supposidly full so they would not book her on it and instead booked the evening departure. She arrived in LHR and asked if she could be put on the morning flight.

Now get this----they said NO, it was a reduced fare ticket and she was not permitted to make changes. Now I understand that they don't want many changes to dates etc but the flight left with 11 EMPTY seats!!! Instead of putting her on it they made her take the evening flight hich was likely full and lost the ability to sell that seat.

At any rate, be careful with the niminees section on the travel website. As for the rest--I am not holding my breath that the company will make it user friendly.

Increasingly so it appears that airport ground staff with our handling agents, and to a lesser degree our very own GF staff, enjoy jerking us around when we are traveling on staff travel tickets, but when they themselves travel, they are provided with the same excellent services afforded to our fare-paying passengers....by the very same cabin crew they jerk around...strange phenomenon really...we treat them very well when they travel, but they thank us by being rude, denying us boarding on aircraft with many seats available...

Yep, I agree Trader. Definitely did not receive an email/memo re the new nominees procedure

- requested a ticket for the mother-in-law, in too much of a rush to add other names at the time, clicked add, and now I am lumped with only having one name on my nominees list and cannot add more. What ridiculous system!

Almost as bad as the AIMS terminals/printers at breifing......

Travel privileges and perks mean a great deal to some one who is far away from home and having gate and check in agents screw with it is enough to turn you sour pretty fast.
All things being equal it could certainly have you looking for a new job. We as pilots are so used to being regarded as a necessary evil for a company it takes very little to get us going.
Sorry for the rant
