Bank guarantee

I appreciate any information you gentlemen may have to offer.

I emailed SIA cargo with this question. I have not received an answer, so I shall try here.
I am currently a DC10 F/O for an American freight company. I have 3000 hrs of command time in the CE-650 (III,IV,VII). I was interested in the F/O position, however what is this bank guarantee? I can understand a bond or promissory note. There is no way I could swing a $35000 to $50000 bank guarantee.

Is this a non-starter. If you don't have the cash to put into the bank, am I wasting my time?
Thanks........

It is simpler to bring the money with you and go to the DBS Bank at Parkway who are familiar with the SQ "Bondage" scheme and deposit in a deposit account paying peanuts interest. DBS will charge you around SGD 1600 for this privilege!

You do not have to bring the money if for example you can get a Bank to guarantee the payment to SQ ( say against the value of your house) but the big catch is that this Bank must have a branch in Singapore. You have 20 days on arrival at SQ to come up with this as otherwise you are off the ground course!!!

You really need to have all this well and truly set up before you set sail as I have seen people running around like headless chickens because they did not treat the matter seriously enough beforehand.

Pilots at SIA C seem happier than those at Etihad. The forums show that Etihad pilots have a number of complaints while SIA C expats do not complain much.
You need to consider the distance from home, which is in favour og Abu Dhabi. If you take your family with you Singapore may mean long days of separation as the turn around times average 13 days per trip.
Singapore is more civilized but it may be more expensive. School fees are high and the company's assistance covers 60-80%. while Etihad covers more than that. Especiallyif you have more than 2 children ,Etihad are better in this regardd.
Vacation is better at Etihad. You have better freedom of ID travel at Etihad.
AT SIA C this is almost non-existent as you travel on ID 75 of an expensive econ class fare and it does not include a third child.
I believe you have made comparisons of the pay, taxes and other benifits.
You can check this & the other replies against your priorities.
I hope this helps
Good luck
Sam

The time is changing now, things are going worse and worse, we are not complaining becasue there is only 30 expats pilotas and we r wondering how to terminate contracts.Cpt av. flight time is 30 h.- paxing at least 60-80h no money for paxing.U will stay monthly 20 days away from Singapore. For 5 days pattern there is only one sector ( SINDXB -PAX, LAYOVER, DXBKWI-PAX,LAYOVER, LAYOVER, KWISIN) 5 DAYS OUT OF SINGAPORE AND ONLY 6h flying time. For 5 days working time salary will 280usd.Hard to say what is better but for sure, money are better in Abu Dabi

Talking Interview

I've been offered an interview with Singapore cargo, and I would love the job!

Anybody got details on the interview itself? I'd like to be a prepared as possible....
