Flying over Christmas

I had a phone call from my fleet manager the other day saying, Capt Bloggs seeing as you and your crew are working on Christmas day and away from home why don't use the company credit card and buy the crew Christmas dinner one night down route, well I thought how nice is that, thats just what my old charter company used to do.

All of a sudden I was woken from my deep slumber by my daughter jumping on the bed, typical I thought, in my wildest dreams!!!!!

Keep discovering.

Seasons greetings one and all, have a good one where ever you are.

Why you guys don't face it and live with it that Christmas means nothing to any ME carrier same as Eid means nothing to any wester owned carrier. You live in the islamic country that is governed by islamic laws. Too bad that u have to fly for Chrismas but someone has to fly those a/c, and this year it will be you and next somebody else.

Merry Christmas an Happy New year

I just always find it funny as theyoften give special attention for moslem crew to have Eid of if somehow possible - but not for christians to have Christmas off... I had a few moslem friends who had christmas and new year off - both which meant nothing to them, whereas I had to fly on both

And what your post have to do with mine? If your ex company had special treatament for crew flying for Christmas my guess is, that was for the whole crew flying, so why wouldn't your FO enjoy that dinner. Or was it only for the Christians and nobody else? What I was trying to tell you in the previous post is that you shouldn't expect any special treatamen in UEA for Christmas, if your company will provide one it should be for Eid. That is all. I wish You Merry Christmas and Happy New Year once more.

O yeah one more thing what drinking have to do with your FO having a dinner with you on Christmas eve, was that a sin, eating but not drinking?

How you like the boss' x-mass message:

"These acts do not go unnoticed and are always greatly appreciated"

Yeah right!!!!
They all have the important days off.

Nice post!

Your management application is still being processed and you have just passed two crucial tests.

1. Supporting the company on Pprune;

2. Showing a total inability to understand that we have different cultures here that all have different needs.

Good luck with the job.

Ref Christmas dinner, they DID advise of a special deal in Brisbane for Christmas dinner. All inclusive, no discount. Enjoy!
Christmas means nothing to any ME carrier same as Eid means nothing to any wester owned carrier. You live in the islamic country that is governed by islamic laws
You wouldn't think so judging by the amount of Christmas decorations and shopping opportunities. But that is simply the locals cashing in on Christmas commercialism, just like anywhere else. Pull your head outa ya ass Sajko and smell the roses.

Many of the locals enjoy having Christmas off too... so they can party with their white Christian whore girlfriends and her mates.

But of course, only some people can have it both ways. At least we were thanked (in advance) for working extra hard during Ramadan.

Merry Christmas, all of you (who haven't left).

You guys are missing a point. I was not referring to your working conditions. I'm sorry if your management does not have a sense for your needs and according to all the treads here that is the case. I was trying to tell you that you are working in the part of the world where Christmas is day like any other and means nothing more or less. State holidays are Eid days and expecting special treatment for Christmas is very unrealistic. I guess when you where coming to UAE you knew all these facts or u should have known, moving to a different country is a big step and I would get as many infos as I can before doing that. And now when u fly for Emirates you complain of not getting special treatment or being appreciated for flying on Christmas.

Seamen I agree with you that company could do more to show you that you are doing a good job and that would be nice of them.

Vorsicht I have good news for you, don’t or will work for Emirates.

And Desert whine you should pull your head outa ya ass and realise where you live and work.

Good luck to all of you

Never mind the off-putting comments, sajko, but I suspect they are from those pilots at EK who, by their very nature and prior experience, expected to find the same general level of management expertise as they had in their previous companies, but nonetheless find themselves in the poo at EK.
To expect Christmas greetings from a middle-eastern carrier is like expecting snow in the middle of July at their now lemented location...it ain't likely to happen.

They are...silly boys.

Wouldn't listen before, now they know better.

It would be nice if Emirates bought the crews that are away over Christmas a meal
Umm, don't Emirates buy crews a meal every night of the year when they're away on a trip?

Yeah, and you should pull your head out of yours since if it were not for the Western Influence, this outfit woud have no country,no infrastructure, no airline, no roads, no bloody anything except for camels, tents, bit of water and whatever black gold left. Start and appreciate what "your" country has become due to certain foreign folk instead of bitching about it. Think of what would happen to your plastic way of life if "certain" folk all up and left. That's why Santa is unfortunately accepted as being so commercial, because the "advisers" of this so called country know exactly what the deal is. MERRY CHRISTMAS to those who appreciate what the true meaning is all about and know it aint anything to be ashamed about.
so they can party with their white Christian whore girlfriends and her mates.
Oh, I get so emotional with such poetry And aint it so disturbing the amount of such girl folk that are doing it. Kinda puts a real bad taste in ya mouth eh.

Talk about leaving a bad taste in someone's mouth, yes, there's another "sucker" ( ) hired every minute here. I wonder how they feel about zaatar-flavoured instead of pineapple-flavoured???

Good point.

All we're asking is that they pay us allowances so we can eat, let us steal food off the jet so we can save the allowances, buy us another meal (Christmas dinner) and pay us double-rates for eating it on their time.

Oh and a Christmas ham each would be nice.

I'm not going to comment your idiotic posts guys (rat and whine). I was just stating the facts that you obviously can't accept.

Bye

Gents, you complain how EK don't offer the flying crew over Xmas a free meal.
GF management didn't even bother sending an e-mail wishing people a merry christmas. How pathetic is that?

Pathetic indeed it is!!!

I, myself, would rather have a nice $1000 instead of an e-mail or a meal! never mind the used white chicks...

OK, so how many people got called by a very desperate crew controller last night to go flying on a day off. I know that the Seoul flight did not go because of lack of crew and the 864 on the 24th.
Not good, if we get fog or any more go sick we will be Bu**ered
