Is everyone leaving the Middle East?
Three threads talk about the fact that many pilots are leaving the three biggest Gulf Airlines, EK, QR and GF. So where are all these very qualified pilots going? I've looked around and there are jobs, but nothing spectacular.

I think the main problem with the actual sitatuation is that the dollar is so low. Why should one work there with that pay? Pay used to be 30-50% more 5 years ago. The pilots market is an international one and most of its participiant are not calculating their costs in US$.
This lead to lots of people thinking about it and leave, thus the lack of pilots, then the deterioriation of working condition etc. - a chain reaction.
All the other factors remained the same: Gulf region is still the same, aircraft are the same, career outlook still very good. And cost of living increasing dramatically.
Somehow the men behind those airline forgot about this side of the equation. Increase the salary to a level that it used to be in buying power, and people are coming back in masses!

By the looks of it Indian airline will be recruiting massive amounts from the Gulf and I hear the package is not bad, so good as a matter of fact that the x VP ops of EY is going to fly there, now I am not so sure I want to go! Some have all the luck and its always the same.
Going back to life here in AUH or Dubai for that matter, I must say that the it is not as good as it sounds and more expensive than I thought, not really breaking the good money barrier..!

Perfect commuting roster?
Korean's contract is hardly the perfect commuting roster TP. They are going to offer a contract for commuters but at 3 weeks on, 1 off, roughly speaking, it is far from ideal. The pay will probably end on par with this mob if you don't take edu-dollars into account so I don't see a rush but hopefully it will suit some of our colleagues eager to live at home more often.
At least any guys who are lucky enough to find a job that suits them better will know that TP is manning the defensive line waving the flag.

Okay, maybe not a perfect commuting roster. A perfect roster would be one week on, three weeks off 
But based on what is available for people who want to live in OZ, NZ, or North America. It is pretty good. CAL only give 8 days off in a row. KAL give 9 days off in base plus vacation so you can average 11 days off per month at home. That is what my friend there does. Since the OZ commuters at EK today are lucky to get 5 or 6 days at home per month I think this might be appealing to them.
Not sure what the flag waving comment is supposed to mean. My point here is that another opportunity is open, away from EK, that is definitely a good deal for those who want to commute to their homes in the Pacific Rim. I just want to see if any of the people who gripe so much are going to make the switch.
