Greetings from the River bank........

Choices are:
Emirates/Gulfair/Qatar/Etihad

How do these airlines rate in terms of:

First off, I'm gonna start off by saying that I have never worked for these airlines. What I'm about to say is simply everything that I've gathered on this particular Middle East forum.

EK:

* Continuing hiring of DECs (Direct Entry Captains),
because apparently, it's more "cost effective."

* Pay hasn't kept up with the crazy rise of prices (esp.
housing) in Dubai.

* See: http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...hreadid=190464

GF: Don't know.

Gulf Air

Salary: 1bd

upgrade: after 20 years or more
future outlook: bankrupt
At least your future outlook is bankruptcy. So there still is hope. Here in the US, we got United, Northwest, Delta, US Airways, Aloha, all bankrupt (and until recently, US Airways).

QR: Seems that management really goes above and beyond to
screw the FAs and pilots. Aparently, on a regular basis.

Etihad: F/O pay USD: $ 3700 to $ 4600
Capt pay USD $ 5300 to $ 6700 !

...$6,700 per month for a senior captain. I know RJ Captains that make more than that.

Wow, just when I was finally gearing up to head to the deserts to get off the Turbo-props and onto a bigger gear... doesn't sound inviting...
EK, QR, Etihad, Gulf... all screaming for crew on all types... thought it presented a good opportunity.
Thanks for the "heads up" on Etihad et all,

Chocks

EK is by far the best job in my opinion. CX flies out of Dubai, but that is another story. The folks out there live in a dreamworld.
CX S/O makes more money than a EK Capt. EK management please take note.

The figures quoted for EY are just for basic salary. Throw another $4000-5000 as flight pay, school subsidy and accommodation. This is all tax free I presume. If there is any jobs in Europe flying RJ'S paying better after taxes than kindly let me know.

Safe flying Guys

You must be dreaming my friend.

A CX S/O on the Bscale makes 27684 GBP/57504 Uassie dollars/55272 Canadian....

I do not think thats the salary of an EK captain now is it?

A Senior FO makes 71OOOGbp. Thats after 10 years of duty. Thats more like it

Despite the fact that the middle east without expact would be absolutly nothing......still as an expact in this area of the world donīt expect to receive any consideration for the work you perform.

Thanks, Qatari, I too found it hard to believe that CX SOs would make more than EK Captains.

But then again, what is the cost of living in Dubai compared to Hong Kong? Maybe CX pays more simply to offset the huge cost of living in Hong Kong (I'm not saying that Dubai is cheap, but compared to each other, which is more expensive)?

PLUS

Home every night ( if that's what you want )

At least 1 EK F/O has just done it (gone back).
