"SWISS" to Come to Doha

Swiss International Airlines has signed a code-share agreement with Qatar Airways, for the latter to operate services on the former's behalf.

Swiss will offer flights from Basle, Geneva, Lugano and Bern to Doha, all via Zurich, with the Zurich to Doha sectors being operated by Qatar Airways equipment, featuring LX flight number.

Reciprocally, QR flight numbers will eventually feature on LX services from ZRH to the above destinations.

With reasonably good loads, QR will continue to use the A300-600 on the route, with transfer to A330 likely to occur before the end of the year.

The codeshare agreement will take effect on 1st October 2005.

The A300's in QR's fleet are leased from a variety of places. Korean Air is just one of them. Some of the aircraft will remain in the fleet unitl the turn of the decade.
