Vat in the UAE?

Heard on the news today that the UAE asked the IMF for help in implementing VAT( Value Added Tax). Does anybody have more info this? Will they adjust our salaries if this does happen?

They wont adjust salaries because the theory goes that any payrise in the UAE only fuels inflation.

Apparently rent rises and general cost of living increase has no impact on inflation in these parts.
