A380 - A World Gone Mad as Kingfisher Selects

Kingfisher, and Indian LoCo who have barely been in the business for five minutes, and who have a fleet of one or two aircraft have ordered:

5 x A380
5 x A330
5 x A350

Now, that really IS what you call ambition!!!!!!!!! Good luck Kingfisher.

A300 man you make me laugh again,if this order is ambitious then what is 60 A350's for QR. For an airline of it's size it only carried 3.5million pax last year. GF with at least 10 less aircraft carried 7.5million. If anyone is being ambitious here it's Goat Air.

Please don't get me wrong - I don't disagree with you one bit, but the wild ambitions of QR are well known in the region and well documented on the forum. However, they have been in operation now for 9 years.

Kingfisher has been in operation for 5 weeks, or something similar. Hence, I just find it a bit bizarre that they have announced this order so soon after that!

This, together with the huge orders from EK and QR makes me think that the region has gone mad................hence the comment.

Cheers - happy flying.

Kingfisher is run by a man with proven business savy and an excellent track record in being able to turn a profit from his brewing empire. Who in Qatar has such a background.....thats right nobody. So if you look at the facts, an aircraft order from Kingfisher for 15 aircraft makes a lot more sense than QR flying empty aircraft to destinations nobody in the Gulf wants to go to. An order for 60 A350 just makes people laugh at the way QR are building their airline. The figure of 60 is no coincidence it's that number because EK ordered 50 and QR always have to be bigger (but never better). As someone who acted for a long time as propagandist for QR (and now EK) you need to distance yourself from a huge white elephant.

QR may well have ordered 60 A350's, but Emirates have not ordered anything yet at Paris. Perhaps you should watch MORE T.V!

Kingfisher is not a low cost airline.

From a pax point of view, QR is far superior to EK.

BYMONKEY Irony is a word you obviously don't understand. Get a dictionary and read the posts slowly so you can take it all in before shooting off at the keyboard! I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume english is not your first language.

Cool

Now,now boys and girls calm down.

Would somebody suggest where and what exactly are Kingfisher going to do with A380s?

Do they have traffic rights? And,will an A380 be able to operate in Indian airports? If its BOM and DEL,I dont think so.

A300 man I agree that is quite suprising for such relatively new airline to order the the A380!

apaddyinuk - Are you refering to the lady who is now in charge of training cabin crew??? Thought she was one of the nicest at QR.

Kingfisher have good business sense, they see a market for high volume Pax direct from Europe to Asian continent especially UK. I feel middle eastern airlines will loose a great deal of Pax due to this, so they should re-think their stratagies before getting over ambitious. Looking on the bright side alot of other airlines can look forward to leasing new aircraft which the middle eastern airlines have no use for

This isn't the world gone mad, it's competition.

Kingfisher and other Indian airlines see a market that until now has been served by the Gulf based airlines. With a virtual monoploy and the Yield Improvement Committee GF/QR/EK have been fleecing the traveller for years on routes to Europe from India.

IIRC QR ordered it's A380s to serve the Europe - Doha tourism route with onward connections to India. However if Kingfisher are aiming at the same market with lower prices QR are in a precarious position.

EK and to a lesser extent GF will continue to get business flyers, and at least GF haven't ordered any new aircraft, so they should be OK.

QR will just drop the fares to nothing to get the load. Don't forget they have no shareholders or banks to answer to.

Lot of jumping around without going in detail....

Kingfisher ordered all these aircraft......CORRECT.

But the same reports also clearly say that delivery of the A380s are only in 2010. A350s are from 2012 onwards....

By that time

1 The airports in BOM and DEL, (hopefully COK as well) and also the new ones coming up in HYD and BLR will all be ready for the 380s.

2 The restriction (as per today's rules) of a private sector airline to operate FIVE years on domestic routes before going international gets over.Kingfisher started operations in 2005 - so 2010 - right in time to go international.

3 The current restriction for any private airline not to operate to Middle East from India (five years) goes off as well. Currently the India-Middle East routes are exclusively reserved for Air India and Indian Airlines till 2010.

Now- hope some of these calm all your jittery nerves!

Wonder where they are goign to deploy the 330s.... these are due from 2007 end onwards..Currently because of the five year rule for international operations, KF can start their international operations only in 2010.

But with India being ruled by the right wing congress supported by of all people the commies, anything is possible. So may be the 5 year ban will go.............? Even otherwise, I guess they can deploy the 330s in sectors like BOM - DEL or DEL-BLR.

Cheerio

Will Kingfisher make any money from maintaining otherīs A380ies?
Seem like many A380ies will fly by India so thereīll be money
to be made from that?
