fireitup,
The Feb/2005 issue of AOPA PILOT magazine has an article about just what you want to know. About a guy flying for a humanitarian-relief organization. Pretty interesting. Good luck while you're over there.

Just be carefull!
No radar nor ATC in most parts of the country.
Everything on lower levels (can't fly in upper airspace within the country) is entirely up to you. Of course, AIP has a lot of rules but seems they are loosely followed
Everything is VFR, kind of, and communication and traffic reports are on common Afgan Advisory frequency. Keep listening and tell what you are doing.
I believe from 15th of April, Kabul ACC should take over, and that may bring some improvements.
A lot of mountains around with high elevation airfields (Kabul 5800'), so on a nice day your office view will be nice. On a bad day though...
Your mates at UN operations have a lot of experience over there, so just listen up.
Have fun and good luck!
Keep the blue side up,
Cheers
