Pia 742 On Fire At Jed!!!!

Hi,
A couple of relatives were on a flight from Jeddah to Lahore on PIA.....
Apparently,an engine caught fire above dammam or somewhere and the plane made an emergency landing at Jeddah.
Any more info?

If the aircraft had a fire over Dammam then the landing in Jed was hardly an emergency, considering the distance it travelled in the wrong direction. If it was an emergency the landing would have been done in Dammam or Dahran or even Bahrain. Suggest you take a look at the map.

I agree wrong direction for an emergency of this type.
Damman, Bahrain or a few more would have been the wise choice.
The Emergency problably was not as critical as someone told you.
Ground personel have a way of stretching things to make the story better.
No one in his right mind would return to JED with a fire on board from this far out!

All internal combustion engines are on fire...hopefully on the inside bit only of course.....sounds a bit far-fetched to me....

Why not ring PIA and ask them rather than try to get some reply, from sources unknown on the internet.
Must be a great paper you work for if this is how you do your research!!!!

When you heard the story in the first place did you not stop to think about how stupid the whole idea was? How could an aircraft have an emergency overhead an airport with massively long runways, turn around and fly all the way back to it's point of departure. With that kind of reasoning the Beano is the publication for you.
