GF returns one of its A320 to Oasis
Just got the info that one of GF's A320s is being returned to its lessor, Oasis Int'l from AUH. Yep, that's exactly what it seems. Etihad is from AUH as well. Official info mentions lease price increase. Now, are you sure there are no politics involved in this? I'm not.
Point is that for 1 month now the whole traning/upgrade plan has been suspended. Heard that the Birmingham flight will not T/O as well. 1 A320 less in the fleet means less upgrades and so on...
And to add to this scenario, Jimmy Hogan's and his crew contract ends in July/2005. Word on the street is that the'll be leaving for greener pastures.
Only time will tell what will happen with the Golden Falcon, but the outlook so far is not exactly good, is it?
Cheers

You guys wish!
Jimmy Hogan`s crew moves to greener pastures?
Where would these pastures be? BA? AA? CAL? Or even QATAR , ETIHAD?
GF is doing better than ever ......
The crowne prince just confirmed his and BAH's commitment to GF so your conclusions are pure speculation....
Good day and good luck

Well, I can assure you this is not a rumour. "EF" is leaving the fleet for good, according to memo received yesterday. Didn't know about another 2 A320s being returned as well, but this might explain the complete stall in the training/upgrade plan.
GF is doing better than never. True. Very true. But, provided the "selfishness" of the bahraini mentality, always thinking they are better than everyone and don't need to do anything for that, GF is poised to downsize and become a national bahraini airline. Just remember that about 30 or 40 years before, Bahrain was WELL ahead of Dubai in terms of development... and... they just sat back and relaxed... what happened?
So, maybe in the next few months we shall have a better picture of what is going to happen with GF.
God help us all.

GF is going better than ever but the fact remains that the return of aircraft is not a good sign. I heard 2 weeks ago about the 3 A320 and now its happened. Also in the same rumor heard that AUH plan to pull the plug this summer. 2 new private investors are to fill the gap. EF is in GAMCO to be used by Etihad, since it's owned by the boss there it's no surprise. Hogan rumor says he is not going anywhere. Just quitting to spend his money and enjoy life, who knows? Whatever happens it's time to pay attention and watch what's going on. Resignations are still high,5 this week.

Word has it that as the lease was expiring, GF was promissed the rate would not change and the lease was to be renewed. Then at the last minute Oasis raised it by almost 30% and imposed other terms (such as GF must pay them hald a million dollars when returning the aircraft). The lease on the other 2 a/c will expire next year I think, so at least it gives GF some time to plan what to do next.

GF is replacing the returned 320 in April. Perhaps all is not so bad after all. Not sure where it's coming from but there are aircraft available due to companys like Volare who had at least 20.

to "cargosales"
Well, from the 3 A320s advertised in Oasis website, just one is currently with GF (c/n 421 - EF - which was returned this week).
Haven't heard of "new" 320s coming in april, but info confirmed that 3 A320s are leaving the fleet. Let's keep an eye on it.

A little off topic.
Seems GF are now sending out reassuring messages that the GF Abu Dhabi base will be around for……..well they don’t say, but all is very positive!
Well boys and girls time to start looking for schooling and accommodation in Muscat!
I’m a little surprised that this message didn’t come from the HR department, instead of the crew planning department.
