A Chief Pilot suspended?

The word on the street is that a management pilot has been suspended. Apparently for allegedly allowing a friend to use the aircraft's PA system to say a prayer on a flight from Jeddah.

Confirmation anyone?

Prayer

That's the most unheard of thing I have ever heard of!

Hello, it is Ramadan, and people are entitled to hear prayer by whatever means.

Stupid company, out them, who is it?

Strangely enough i cant find anything in our manual that allows a passenger to use the PA ! Regardless of why it was used, the problem here is that it was used!

With a username of "oryx" based in Doha, it has to be Qatar Airways.

Great post.
Did you really mean the stupidity you posted? Or you were just being sarcastic?
"hear prayer, by whatever means"
Is that a joke?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be obtuse. I just forgot to add Qatar Airways. Clever Mutt figured it out anyway.

Just returned from a few days away and the rumour is that it was the A300 Chief Pilot?

Heard it was a CP in Qatar. Haven't seen anything anywhere, where a pax can't/ is not allowed to use the PA without permission. He/She wouldn't have known how to use it in the 1st place, unless told how to use it, i.e. by cabin crew, hopefully with Capt's permission, but probably not. I can see more paper-work/ fleet instructions in the pipeline, coming our way. Choke

They say it was a Qatar Airways A-330 flight that the A-300 CP was coming as a Jumpseat Pax from Jeddah with a Mullah friend. the CP Asked/told/demanded (don't know which one) the CSD to use the P.A to have his friend say the prayer for breaking fast.

The prayer was said and someone who was a PAX on the flight on arrival to Doha ( at some time) asked the CEO if this was comman practice for a Mullah to say the prayer over the P.A on a flight.

Then an Investigation was made by the CEO on the flight and who, when, where, all of this took place and the CSD and the CP were suspended. Since then both of them have resigned their position as CSD and CP. I have no idea if this is what has gone on but I did hear it from my CSD I was working with today.

All of this is hear say and I am not sure if any of it is true as I have been to busy trying to find my Pigeon hole out in the middle of the parking lot, which has been close off and we cannot park our cars at work any more.

That is a whole other post that we will not get into now.

I may not be alone in thinking it won't be professional to name the CP on this forum.
If one is really in need of knowing, there could only be one A300 CP at QR....

Don't know about 'naming and shaming' if they sacked every captain that allowed that on Biman, there wouldn't be anyone left.

Happens all the time in the Haj.

Mind you nothing surprises me here, passengers are subject to video of prayers in Arabic every flight, the nationality of vast majority of pax is Bangladeshis (yes I know most are Muslim but . . .)

There are many passengers (Haj) that don't even know how to use toilets, yet are subjected to prayers in Arabic . That comes before the video on how to use the toilet, wash basin and how to lock the toilet door though.

Hmmmm

Did this suspension really take place or was it just another figment of someone's imagination?

He's gone. And so has his deputy who has resigned. I believe the CSD involved, who was suspended also, has resigned having had enough of the QR ballcrup. (No imagination involved B3.)
