Retiring to Bahrain

More and more expatriates working in Saudi Arabia are planning to make Bahrain their retirement home following the announcement by the Bahraini government to offer new residence permits to foreigners over 55 years of age. The Bahraini decision is, in certain ways, similar to the UAE’s policy under which affluent foreigners can obtain life-long visas, which allows them to settle down in Dubai or in other emirates.
Not sure if i would consider it an ideal retirement destination

Why not? Official policy is to soak you for all they can through BD2.700 drinks and BD1.000 bottles of water (the little ones). Now you can spend your lifelong savings in Bahrain before you die. Maybe they'll even build some retirement homes and keep them staffed with Russian bands and Thai girls A little taste of heaven before your time.
