Etihad
Thinking about applying for a desk job ay EY.
Any news or updates on how the new operation is going?
Are the planes starting to fill?
I remember an earlier post from a LHR dispatcher commenting that there were only 3 pax on the airplane - I hope its improved.
Any info appreciated as I feel that out of the carriers in the area, EY is more likely to struggle if funding dries up.

Well I dont really agree. Etihad is backed by the Abu Dhabi govenment, who also, for the time being, put money into GF. Etihad is called "The National Airline of the UAE" they would not let it go under, face saving is a huge thing over here. As for the Pax loads yes they are getting better all the time, but unlike normal airlines if there is only 3 people on the flight EY dont cancel it, the want there planes to be seen, its there best advert. But fear not EY are carring large sums of cargo, which is helping to balance the books, should they ever really need to be balanced!!
Its a good place to work and even AUH has its charm, if that fails its only an hour to Dubai!

I agree with B B Boy. Saw in paper today Etihad want 50 A/c by 2010, and will be at Farnborough to make deal with Boeing/Airbus. Still many rumours going round that Gulf Traveller will eventually be absorbed by Etihad. AUH Govt, if not mistaken, own all 9 of the 767's. Etihad may never be as popular as EK, ( the name just doesn't fit with Western tourists), but money grows on trees, or should I say, palm trees, in AUH. The airline will NOT be allowed to fail, as B B Boy said.
