Accelerated Command Program - EK
I was just on the EK website updating my application and I noticed that all references to the accelerated Command program have been removed......has the program been cancelled?

If the only reason you want to come to DXB is for a quick upgrade , then think again, there is more to life here than upgrades .\
Anyway is 3 - 4 years for a wide body commad that bad.
Name another airline where this is possible ...:

Accelerated FO program!!!! I thought I was on the accelerated Command program, then they changed the rules. Here I am ex Capt with command time on 747 and Airbus but am told I do not have the required experience for accelerated command. Experience here does not count for anything so I am lead to believe!!
You will have to wait if you join EK now for a considerable time for upgrade and then you have to pass your assessment flights, interview and of course your face has to fit ie you have to think everything here is wonderful and that all Line checkers ( the guys that have a say in your assesment are great). The trainers unfortuantely have little say in upgrade potential though they are the guys who see you in the sim etc ( go figure!!)I have to say that the hierachy of the Line checkers (failed/ wannabe trainers?)are as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
So don't come if you want a quick command, be ready to sit in the right hand seat, do the FO thing eat humble pie, think all Capts are magnificent and great diplomats - not, and bide your time.
In reality I have joined the accelerated FO program and as you can tell am setting my sights at being a cuise pilot!!!
(PS 9000hrs now/ 2000hrs command before Ek on 747 / Airbus not enough for EK????)

It's an FO with an accelerated opinion of him self.
Now an accelerated command is different, that means if you meet the experience requirements that change from day to day, EK will put you up for command training in front or more senior FOs who don't meet those requirements.

Aussie,
I do not know where the term accelerated f/o came from but Emirates has an accelerated command program. If you meet certian qualifications WHEN YOU JOIN, AND management does not change the rules, you will qualify for upgrade in 18 months. Right now most of the accelerated pilots are upgrading in 12 months or more, although we did have on who upgraded in 8 months. I think it is currently 8000 TT with 2000PIC of an aircraft over 55 tons, but I am not sure. There are rumers that it is going to be changed back to the old requirements of 6000TT and 1000PIC over 10 tons, because we are short of Captains.
Currently all new joiners go on the 330 or 777. Because EK is mixing the 330 and 340 flying, we are required to be here for 1 year before going to 340 training. This rule has been in force for 3-4 months. The only way new joiners will go on the 340 is if we seperate the fleets, which could happen.

Thanks 330 man.
So what your saying is the an FO of a 330 also flies the A340?
Just rotates through, depending on where hes rostered to fly and what type of aircraft?
Do you get any choice in the aircraft? Can you say you prefer the 777 or the 330?
Thanks mate!
