Aviation World In the Middle East
Hello Everyone,
First time starting a thread. I am just wrapping up my flight training in Canada and I am desparately looking for a job like the other million pilots out there. I am now considering moving to the Middle East to search for employers who will hire low time "green" pilots.
Any pilots out there working on that side of the planet have any advise for an eager young pilot? Any companies i should stay away from and any companies that hire low time guys?
Cheers!

Not knowing what your quals are, it is difficult to suggest what to do however, there is one company that I would strongly suggest that you stay far away from and that is BEXAIR based in Bahrain.
They sound good and will look good on the outside, but looks can be very deceiving.
I know that they still owe money to previous and current employees, so take that for what it's worth.
You will find that with low time even 'on type', you will get shafted with low pay and long hours, probably very little time off during the first year or two of the contract. How does 11 months on and 1 month off sound to you? I know of low time pilots who have accepted those terms in order to gain the experience.
If you have the flight time, maybe you should look into getting a contract through a Canadian company. Give ACASS in Montreal a call, they aren't the best, but it's a start.

Thanks for the heads up!
I have about 300 hrs TT coming from Seneca College. I'm just curious if there are any small charter outfits which can take a newbie under their wings.

Hi Vne 98
You have many new executive charter operators in the Middle East.
1. Net Jets ME - JED
2. Bexair - BAH
3. ExecuJet ME - DXB
4. United Aviation Services - KWI (I think name changed)
5. Royal Jets - AUH
Based on my experiance with the Market in the ME, they always like to be known as the best and there is alot of money spent on the facilities and services offered.
FYI, I know a few guys at BEXAIR and non of what was said is true. they are in fact very well respected in the market and i have personnaly dealt with them on many occasions in the past.
I heard that some epmployees abused the company by having Bexair pay for the training and immediately escaped from the country legal action has also been taken against these people. I personaly feel that they are the ones trying to destroy this young well professional company's image.
Sorry for the long message, but I hope the info is enough and wish you luck in applying in the ME.

another Bexair thread !!!!!
RE expenses, I have it from the horses mouth that as of today, the two pilots who delived the 601 to Luton, have NOT received three months expenses, and last months salary. I do have other details, but am not prepared to expand further.
I can highly recomend Royal Jet, and Net Jet ME..I was under the impression that NJME and National Air Services were (one and) the same, as NJME is a franchise operated by NAS.......for different reasons I can also recomend Execujet.
There are many threads related to the above companies, so read Middle east, and the corporate/GA/Biz areas......

Appreciate the Advice
Thank you to everyone who posted a reply, it is not easy to know how the hiring is going in the Middle East from Canada.
In regards to the question about which specific country I was interested in, I would have to be honest and say any that would hire me. However, I was concentrating most of my efforts on Dubai and Saudi.
I have heard of Execujet and their minimum requirements are still fairly high for a beginner. Does anyone know if they hire new pilots?
Cheers.

What I fly
Actually Seneca is the name of the flight college I went to. I flew Beechcraft Bonanza's and Baron's while I was there. Unfortunately I have no jet time. Just curious why Saudi is out of the question?

Saudi is out of the question are there are hundreds of Saudi nationals with the same experience level as you! Generally in the corporate world they are not looking for beginners.
NJME have a basic requirement of an ATP, 2500 hours and jet time.
Itswindy, you are right about NAS and NJME. Although NAS also have their fingers in other pies....

Thanks for all the advice.
It seems like there really is no place for a fresh pilot to find work in the Middle East. Just curious if there are even flight schools available?
I have Iranian citizenship and I was also wondering if they have any sort of cadet program?
cheers

Vne98,
There is quite a bit of hiring going on in the Middle East, unfortunately, it is mostly experienced pilots, more often than not with a type rating and time on type on household names like Boeing and Airbus. Most of these countries also hire their own low-time nationals. So maybe there are opportunities for you in Iran, maybe not-- I don't know. There are a few airlines there, Iran Air, Mahan Airlines, Kish Airlines (there may be more, again I am not sure-- try a Google search).
If not in Iran, then I would say you direct your attention to getting a job in Canada. As daunting as the job market is in Canada, I can pretty much guarantee you that your chances are better finding a job there than in a completely foreign country (not including Iran in this description, since you have Iranian nationality), especially with your qualifications.

Cabin crew employment
Guys I know Pprune is the best place to ask this question...
I am looking for cabin crew employment in the ME on VIP/corp.
I flew for QR on a contract with SV for hajj during 1998 based in Jeddah and loved the lifestyle in Saudi.
Not for everyone I know, but I loved it.
I also tried whilst there to secure something else however just got stuffed around and eventually had to come home, it's really about who you know or are introduced to.
If anyone knows of or can recommend a company that employs male cabin crew please private me, I know there are guys working in these positions, but who are they working for?
I would really appreciate it any assistance

Try Jet Aviation Business Jets, they operate many biz Jets in the ME...
Check the website and apply via the office in Zurich, Switzerland.
By the way, being a male might be a big plus as they had many problems with female cabin crew, most got homesick fairly soon.....
Good luck
