Thumbs up Bahrain Grand Prix Flyby

Out of interest (because I used to live there and knew several GF pilots) can anyone tell me who was on the flightdeck for the A340-300 fly by at yesterdays Bahrain Grand Prix.

I have seen a couple of the photographs and it looked very impressive. Wish I'd been there - on the flightdeck would have been even better!

I heard it was impressive too. So close, you can almost touch it. Can anyone post a few pictures if they have them?
Thanks

I heard that GF pilots are not allowed to do stunts like this, and that a professional pilot from Airbus was brought in just for this.

Hope someone will be able to post those pics to a website or at least post them here.

Presumably to demonstrate that the A340-300 can actually climb under certain circumstances....

If the quality of the pictures is ok, why not post them on Airliners.net?

It was an airbus test pilot, and the head of fleet training and standards is peter mitchel. mind you things change so rapidly around here you never really know who the management is.

Cool

I was there and yes it was spectacular, both the race and the fly past. As far as I know three captains were on board: Captain Yakoob Al Askari (Chief Pilot A340/A330), Captain Nozar Mehta (A340 D.E.) and Captain Iraj Fatimi (Airbus test Pilot)
I have one or two good pictures that I could send.
Please send me an email ([email protected]) with “F1” as subject and I promise that I will email the pictures that I have back to you.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. The Autosport photo has got to be the best of the lot. I guess it was taken from the helicopter.

How about that for an ad for Gulf Air. What is it they say - "priceless!"

Still wish I'd been on the flightdeck (nashing of teeth and muttered curses)

Thanks again everyone.

Three captains on a flightdeck!

Best place would be on the ground with a frosty in me mitt!
