Question Qatar Upgrades?

Despite all the current problems in Qatar Airways management and the way they are used to treat people and everything we`ve been reading here, do they upgrade any F/O to Command?? What are the minimum requirements? With the DECs coming, did they stop any upgrade? Any info greatly appreciated!

In order to be egible for an upgrade at QR you need:

3 years in the company as pilot (this is a company requirment for upgrades AND fleet transfers)

5000Hrs TT

Rather heavy requirments these days, especially with a whole bunch of young FOs almost ready to upgrade...

Off course DECs cause a lot of difficulties as well.....However QR is not ready yet to provide the pool of captains solely through upgrades so this is the only option they actually have....

We can only hope this will change once the airline is at speed...

Qatari, thanks or your reply.
These FOs you mentioned, do they have any perspective of being upgraded? Any courses going on / scheduled?
My point is... since the company lacks both CPs and FOs, they will state that they cannot upgrade anyone, since they don't have enough FOs to replace... am I right?

Thanks for your inputs!

You are spot on mate....

we have a bunch of realy experienced FOs just wasting time waiting to be upgraded but they use the shortages as an excuse..

That is why they came up with the three year thing as well...

Any solutions/suggestions?

Qaiari 515 why is there not enough pilots in Qatar Airways? Surely if they are buying aircraft for future deliveries, dont they forcast how many pilots they need well in advanced.

Have they been short on pilots just recently since the expansion and when do they expect to have enough pilots to allow for upgrades? I heard a strong rumour that alot of experienced F/Os were heading to Dragon Air. Is this true. If so Why? Do they pay more or is it quicker to command their?

Do you recommend Qatar Airways as a company to join.
