Muttley.............. there you go 100 posts.
But seriously with regards to the pay and conditions we are reluctantly waiting for "the May pay review", however, I suspect this will be brushed under the carpet with the announcment of the profit share which a lot of hard working staff will not be entitled to.
Remember it's just an airline

Pissed off Passenger
Presuming Dubai is center of ops for you flying types I think it stinks. As a gin swilling fare payer I am going to be taking my custom elsewhere, along with alot of others I know who work in the Middle east. Why? Cos the Tossers on the ground at Dubai are in general rude, arrogant, twazzocks. In the air you lot are superb, I havent spilt a drop yet, & my glass is always kept full whilst I am pampered.
Seems like it is just endemic in Dubai, the staff & management I have met don't give two 's about the people who keep them all in jobs. Hey ho, I am going to try my six long hauls a year with Jordanian in future.
Hope you do win the battle though

Lobotomy,
EK thanks you for the feedback, but I can't understand why you would prefer to have friendly check in staff over a well served Gin??? Your choice I guess, but if you think it is just EK's check in staff that are a problem in DXB you are in for a surprise...

So, bottom line:
Is it still worth joining ek from a strictly carreer point of view?
Is it worth giving up a command in europe, or should I turn away from the light. Its not my time.
No sour grapes please just objective opinions.
Should life mean life?
or is it still 3/4 to a command.

Just something to add for those Aussies in EK, if you planned on doing a few years in DXB then coming back downunder for a retirement job, forget about it! With the introduction of Virgin and Jetstar down here, Pilots salaries are at a new level which can only be described as a joke. You will have to stick it out in DXB until you finish with aviation altogether!! Good luck.

Its not just the Pilot's
Just for some perspective.
Things are not much better in the Tower and Radar Room.
Conditions are getting worse all the time, equipment is getting really old and falls down regularly, traffic increases, staff stays the same.

You're dead right there.
We are no different from any other poor B@stards working here. I don't think many people get increases in their conditions around here by virtue of the generosity of their employers.
It seems to be a middle eastern philosophy to pay the least that you can possibly get away with and put up with what you get. Just look at the service levels of any business here, you get what you pay for.

EK, good or bad to join?
Just wondering, is there anybody having a positive idea and thoughts about EK? I was thinking of applying as a "career move" but I think I will not anymore after orientating and reading all the negative stuff plus having a secure job now.
