Embassy asks US citizens to be on alert

DOHA: The US embassy in Doha has issued a Consular Warden Message asking American citizens to “maintain a high level of vigilance” following the death of former Chechen President Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev in a car explosion last weekend.
The message seeks to remind US citizens that on February 13, “a vehicle carrying the former Chechen President, Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev, exploded in a residential district of Doha, causing his death. The Qatari authorities are conducting an investigation of the incident.”
The US Embassy in Doha, the message posted on its website says, “takes this opportunity to remind American citizens to maintain a high level of vigilance, to remain alert, and to take appropriate steps to increase their personal security awareness.”
Meanwhile, the Worldwide Caution issued in January by the US State Department is still in place. It reminds US citizens of the “continuing
