Gulf Air

recently met some friends of mine(pilots in gulf air and whilst discussing they seemed to be rather low on their esteem n morale side. one of them had just got back from Calcutta turn around. now that is torture.Does Gulf air planning people or management know what they're doing. this is another recipe for another disaster and yet they sit in their CRM courses and mention fatigue etc...Come on guys, just for some money saving dont kill your pilots. Have heard that the 320 fleet is the worst and most overworked fleet..Hardly any nightstops except auh, dxb mct..Pilots have to have a good rest and these night flights n turnarounds in the sunrise are killers.. do something with it before it gets too late and u pay for it dearly...

Angel was happened?

Before things were better and people cared about one another, recently a man was killed in a car accident that had workrd for a long time at the Great gulf Air and the way we here about it is only by stumbling upon his best friend, whom is uderstandably upset but nonetheless must fly?????Gulf Air has obligations and will not come forth, what of the DGCA, what of simple human compassion? When will Captains act like captains and stop the nonsense not just for themselves but for all concerned??

Devil Gulf Air

why is there such discrepencies between rosters? who is in charge of the rosters? are there rules or not with work limitations? the work permit for Abu Dhabi does not correspond to the actual working conditions of Gulf Air , has anyone looked into this? are we legal in AbuDhabi?

The sad demise of our colleague was a result of a car crash on new years eve. The airline arranged for his family to come to the Gulf and made all the arrangements for the Captains body to be flown back home for burial. I fail to see your point in using this sad occurance to knock the airline. After many years of working for GF I can say that one of the major good points of this airline is the level of compassion it shows towards it's employees at times of need.

I dont see any link between my topic and yours. i dont know what youre trying to say but as captain snails said, the level of compassion in Gulf Air is very strong.. but that's not my point. i was talking about the long flights to Calcutta and cochin that leave the gulf at night and come back at around midday, when the other fleet go to places very nearCalcutta and cochin and end up at least for a minimum rest..they really should have some rest there.

TOGA Boy,

Whats the flight time from BAH-COK? Is it within limits for a two man crew? Why should the airline turn it into a layover?

Sorry mutt I don't know about BAH-COK flight time as I've never been there but we used to do BAH-MAA-BAH and we were well within FTL's.
No doubt it's a long and tiring day but in todays environment of cuthroat cost cutting and the airline's attempt to return to profitability, sacrifices have to be made.

Besides if one consideres that the flight is to long and tiring I think Pprune is not the place to make it known. If we want to achieve anything we can to it by addressing the proper channels. I would suggest the colleague writes to his chief pilot and addresses the issue.
Cheers
Snails
