Emirates A340-300???

Emirates A340-300???
Hi All,
Just a quick question about this EK A340 300. I had no idea they were aquiring any of these birds and why they would need them, with such a large fleet of A330s and the A345s comming in. Could anyone shed any light on this? Link to the photo I found below:

Second hand aswell!! Ex Singaore Airlines by the looks of things. As far as Im aware, most if not all of EKs new aircraft have come straight off the production line. Maybe they were picked up at bargain price??
