JAA Medical

Must a JAA Class 1 Medical be done in the EU? I asked because I read somewhere that outside of EU, there are AMEs who do the JAA medicals.

If anyone can confirm this, that would be great!

So long as it isn't an initial Class one, then a renewal can be done outside the EU. The AME needs JAA approval of course.

I did a Class 1 renewal in Pretoria.

Initials have to be in the issuing state, but a search of the CAA's AME database shows Class 1 renewals can be done all over the world.
The folks at Gatwick still insist on reading the ECG themselves though, but this doesn't delay issue.
