JAA Blood pressure requirements (have they changed)
Can somebody clarify what is now considered to be hypertension within the JAA.
My previous understanding is that the cut-off point, (where you would require treatment), was 140/90. I've now been informed that this has dropped to 120/80.
Can anybody give some information?

I'm no doctor, but that is almost certainly untrue. 140/90 is the borderline for high BP, and a doctor may wish to keep an eye on things should it remain at this level or go any higher, but 120/80 is an "ideal BP" from what I understand.
The decision to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), depends on a number of factors, other than the reading itself.
The acceptable level is higher than this level.

DONT WORRY ABOUT HYPERTENSION IN THE PAST- EVEN IF YOU ARE TAKING MEDICATION NOW TO CONTROL IT YOU CAN STILL GET A CLASS 1 LOOK AT CAA WEBSITE FAQ. 'NORMAL' PEOPLE CAN HAVE EXTENDED PERIODS OF HYPERTENSION FOR MANY REASONS
