Transgender Class 1 initial

Hi,

Recently booked my class 1 medical im trying to find information as what to expect. I was treated as a child for gender incongruity and have transitioned over the past 8 years.

Im slightly worried what the medical will entail for me as I’ve found no information online, I’ve collected some documents in preparation including my psychiatric assessment for gender dysphoria, my medical records (very sparse luckily), discharges from surgeons and a letter from GP saying my treatment is chronic well tolerated and no concerns.

Was hoping someone could shed some light on the process for me.

A very good question. I had a colleague who's is trans but she already held an ATPL before the process.
I can only assume the medics would want to make sure you're in a good place mentally.
Good luck

TLDR: Bring all clinically relevant information AME can’t award certificate and will refer to CAA who will decide what further steps.

Had my medical today, passed all the tests with no issues AME said he didn’t have the authority to grant my certificate but as he had all my documentation from surgeons, clinics and GP he’d refer it up to the CAA for them to review, he made positive noises about this.

Honestly it was a very pleasant experience as medical situations go and would encourage anyone considering a medical who’s trans to just get on with it.

I’ll report back when I hear more
