Initial Class 1 Failed - Eyesight
Hi, recently I had my Initial for CAA Class 1. As per the advisor report, for cases of high refraction, it requires limit of 6/6 monocularly. I thought better than 6/9 is good enough. I had my dilated retinal examination which the ophthalmologist told me I am all good but end up still failed..Only my right eye is 6/6 corrected to 6/9, left and both eyes also 6/6. Should I change my prescription then it should be fine? I didn't expect a fail due to my eyesight.. Hope I can have your advise. Thank you all.

Hi, sorry to hear that. :/
According to an acquaintance (I'd take this with a grain of salt), for CAA Class 1, it’s not enough for both eyes together to be 6/6 if one eye is only 6/9 on its own.
Changing your prescription might help if your right eye can be corrected to 6/6, but only an optometrist can confirm that.

(i) Distant visual acuity, with or without correction, shall be 6/9 (0,7) or better in each eye separately and visual acuity with both eyes shall be 6/6 (1,0) or better.
(ii) At the initial examination, applicants with substandard vision in one eye shall be assessed as unfit.
I am not too sure why OP has failed?
